Mads
Babysitter in Ashbourne
My Summary
About Me
I have been described as a loving and caring person who has prior experience in child care including SEND children. I’m reliable, trustworthy, and adaptable when it comes to baby sitting meaning I can alter my care depending on each individual child’s needs.
My Experience
The role of a volunteer stable hand meant helping with the school horses during the weekends. This included grooming the horses, making feed and filling hay nets, mucking out, tacking up, and maintaining a good, safe standard for both the horses and those on the yard, improving my teamwork skills. As well I often volunteered on Pony Club days meaning I was accountable for the children’s safety and well being on both the ground and while on the ponies.
I also volunteered to help lead younger, less experienced riders during their riding lessons as part of my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. This allowed me to build their confidence and gave me the communication skills to ensure the riders felt as safe and secure as possible.
I have volunteered at a stable that specialises in caring for people with disabilities. This has allowed me to communicate with my peers to keep the rider safe and comfortable during the riding lesson.
While at school, I was an Art Scholar and Prefect, which meant I spent a great deal of time with younger students, teaching them different art techniques, giving tutorials, leading tasks, and helping them discover the joy that art can bring. In the future, I aim to become an Art Therapist, focusing on children’s mental health. Having grown up volunteering with children, working with them now feels natural to me and is something I genuinely enjoy.
Recently I have been volunteering at a primary local primary school which has allowed me to gain experience with a range of ages and year groups starting from Kindergarten up to year 6. This experience is in order to gain experience for the masters in art therapy I hope to undertake in the near future where I aim to specialise in children psychology. I have really enjoyed volunteering at this school.
