My Summary
About Me
I am a 23-year old recent graduate with 3 years of experience in childcare. I am passionate about caring for a children in a way which is not only safe and efficient, but intentional and nurturing. My attitude towards childcare is holistic and informed by genuine care and experience. I believe that every interaction counts towards shaping little ones into the people they will become.
My Experience
In 2021, during my gap year, I worked 20-40 hours per week at a nursery, for children ages 6 months to 5 years, all with diverse needs, conditions and developmental stages. I built relationships with all of the children and parents I worked with, resulting in me babysitting for some of them outside of the nursery, and even once I had left. I also built relationships with the staff, working as a team to ensure efficiency, communication, and most importantly, safety. I came back to work at the nursery during christmases and summers whilst at university, maintaining these relationships. I learned, retained and implemented important training elements such as safeguarding procedure and educational development. Alongside this, I kept my creative nature, planning games, outings and reward systems for the children to keep them engaged, and also provided emotional and learning support when needed.
In 2025, I began working full-time at a SEN/SEMH school, both as an administrative assistant and a teaching assistant when needed for cover. I worked on reception, answering the main school phone, taking registration, and completing admin tasks with efficiency. I handled safeguarding issues and EHCPs with confidentiality and care. I liaised with parents both at reception and over email/phone regarding student’s mental and psychical wellbeing, building trusting relationships with both the parents and students. I interacted with students aged 9-18, with profiles ranging from Special Educational Needs to Social Emotional Mental Health. I made use of my training and certifications (Level 2 Safeguarding, Pathological Demand Avoidance, Trauma-Informed) in order to emotionally support students and de-escalate when necessary, becoming an EAA (Emotionally Available Adult) for many children.
