About Me

Hello! I'm a qualified SEN teacher with a passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs to develop confidence, independence, and reach their full potential.

Over the years, I have worked with children, young people, and adults across a variety of settings, including schools, nurseries, respite services, and family homes. My experience ranges from supporting non-verbal learners and children with complex medical needs to working with autistic children and young people, including those with PDA profiles, sensory needs, and behaviours that challenge.

I believe every individual communicates and learns in their own unique way, and I enjoy finding creative, personalised approaches that help them feel understood, valued, and successful. I use a range of communication methods, including BSL, Makaton, Signalong, PECS, symbols, and visual supports, depending on the needs of the individual.

Families often describe me as patient, calm, reliable, and approachable. Building trusting relationships is at the heart of everything I do, and I enjoy creating engaging, supportive environments where children can feel safe, have fun, and thrive.

I am available from 20th July during the summer holidays and would love the opportunity to support a family looking for experienced, specialist SEN care.

My Experience

I am a qualified SEN teacher with extensive experience supporting children, young people, and adults with a wide range of additional needs. I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a Level 5 SENCO qualification, a Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL), and a Level 2 Signalong qualification. I am also proficient in Makaton and have experience supporting individuals with visual impairments, including knowledge of basic Braille.

Although my teaching qualification is for ages 5–11, I have worked across primary, secondary, and post-16 settings and am currently working with young adults aged 16+. My experience includes roles as an SEN teacher, nursery SENCO, 1:1 SEN support worker, respite worker, and personal assistant, supporting both children and adults in educational, community, and home settings.

I have significant experience supporting individuals with PMLD, complex medical needs, autism, sensory processing differences, communication difficulties, visual impairments, and behaviours that challenge. I have worked with non-verbal learners, highly sensory early learners, and individuals with complex autism, including supporting those with PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profiles and Pica. I am experienced in using a range of communication approaches, including BSL, Makaton, Signalong, PECS, symbols, and visual supports to promote communication, independence, and emotional regulation.

I am passionate about building positive relationships with children and families, understanding each individual's unique strengths and needs, and providing nurturing, person-centred support that helps them feel safe, valued, and able to thrive.
