Charlie
Babysitter in Bristol
My Summary
About Me
Hi I'm Charlie. :) I'm a 20 year-old student studying English Literature, and I am looking for some summer work while I'm in Bristol. I am the eldest of eight cousins, and have grown up looking after children, both at home and in a babysitter capacity, so am very comfortable with childminding work, and really enjoy spending time with children and playing games with them. I study in Brighton, and visit a friend's family for dinner every month, where I catch up with them and play their two lovely children, twins. The visits are really special, and reminded me of how much I miss childminding when I'm busy studying full time.
My Experience
I spent most of my summers looking after my younger cousins and their friends, so was essentially running a little camp of activities to keep them entertained. Their endless energy was honestly both amazing and slightly terrifying, and they'd end up climbing everything (including me), and would get me out of my comfort zone and actually going outside, being creative and having fun in ways that I just never would have done if I'd stayed in and watched TV. We made iMovies, baked, built a damn in a river, had drawing competitions, did tons of arts and crafts, explored the woods, went to the park, and would go to town every other day. It was through those summers growing up that I really learnt that you just need to engage with children's interests and put your age aside, and everything else is much easier after that: they're much more willing to respect you if you need to be the authority in certain situations, and so I've always had fun with the children that I've looked after whilst making sure that I remain fully responsible and ready in case of any emergency.
I have babysat for various families since I was 14, and worked as an English tutor helping children in my old primary school (Redmaids High Junior School) practise their reading skillset for a year whilst I was studying the International Baccalaureate in Year 13. Helping children with their learning was a genuinely wonderful experience, and it was so personally rewarding to see them grow. Essentially I am simply very happy to engage with children's interests and help to support them as they grow up, and so childminding feels very intuitive to me.
