My Summary
About Me
Hello, my name is Gabrielle and I am delighted to be launching Hazel Tree Childminding, a home from home setting with a warm welcome, from September 2026.
Children have access to dedicated play areas and a large outdoor space, which has plenty to explore including our fairy garden, mud kitchen and wooden tepee. We also have a small soft play area, ride on vehicles, role play area and toys for all ages and stages.
We provide learning opportunities for children's development in all 7 areas of learning in the EYFS with multisensory resources, construction toys, varied mark making opportunities, obstacle course building and gardening.
As a home based setting your little ones have the opportunity to take part in baking and cooking as well as messy play.
We are annual pass holders for Peak Wildlife Park, Trentham Gardens and National Trust with regular trips to these and other local museums, your little ones will learn through exploring wildlife, playing in nature and first hand experiences.
We are also ideally placed for walks out into the village to toddler groups, parks, shops and local coffee morning with older community members providing intergenerational experiences. Other trips out to local libraries and their groups promote a love of reading, socialising and learning through being out in the community.
As a smaller setting with dedicated sleep places we are able to offer your little ones calm restful areas and build strong relationships to encourage children's confidence to flourish and their personalities to shine.
I am a proud parent and live with my husband and two children. My experiences as a mother have given me a deep understanding of the importance of providing children with a safe, nurturing environment where they feel valued, supported, and able to thrive. Through both the joys and challenges of family life, I have developed patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine appreciation for the trust parents place in those who care for their children.
I will be working alongside an assistant to provide high-quality care in a warm, home-from-home setting. Caring for and teaching young children is my passion, and I feel privileged to support them through these important early years of development.
I am committed to my own professional development and will be regularly undertaking further training to refresh and extend my knowledge, ensuring I provide the best possible care and learning opportunities for every child.
I believe that parents know their child best, and strong partnerships between families and childcare providers are essential. I work closely with parents to ensure consistency between home and my setting, sharing regular updates, celebrating achievements, discussing any concerns, and working together to support each child's individual needs and development.
Settling in sessions are tailored to each child and family, allowing children to become familiar with the setting at their own pace while helping parents feel confident and reassured as they begin their childcare journey with us.
We also share our home with Angus, our friendly 7-year-old Westipoo, who many people say looks just like Waffle Doggie! Angus loves attention and is very gentle with children. Children will have opportunities to learn about caring for animals and interacting with pets in a safe and supervised way.
I hold a full UK driving licence, have appropriate insurance for childminding, and will use my car for outings and local adventures.

I look forward to building strong relationships with families and creating a nurturing environment where children can explore, learn and flourish.
My Experience
I have worked in education for the past five years, supporting and teaching children across a range of early years and school settings. During this time, I have gained valuable experience working in Nursery and Reception classes, delivering learning opportunities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and supporting children at every stage of their early development.
My experience includes working in a day nursery with babies and toddlers, as well as teaching preschool aged children. These roles have given me a strong understanding of child development and the importance of providing nurturing, engaging experiences that support each child's individual needs, interests, and next steps in learning.
As part of my degree, I explored the important role that play has in learning and development throughout our lives. I loved studying about how children learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences, and this understanding continues to shape my approach to supporting children's learning every day.
Alongside my early years experience, I have also worked as an outdoor activities instructor, teaching forest school, climbing, hiking, and survival skills to primary and secondary school aged children. This role strengthened my passion for outdoor learning and helped me develop the skills to create exciting, safe, and memorable experiences in nature.
I have also had 3 children of my own and nurturing them as they grow has been my proudest achievement.
