Childcare Job in Gloucester
About Me
Our family includes Mum, Dad, and 2 children aged 4 and 6. Our eldest daughter is autistic and ADHD (AuDHD) with a PDA profile. She is bright, funny, creative, caring and full of personality. She loves spending time outdoors, animals, imaginative play, crafts and activities that follow her interests. Like many neurodivergent children, she can experience anxiety, sensory overwhelm and emotional dysregulation, particularly when demands are high or routines change unexpectedly.
My Requirements
We are looking for someone who understands that behaviour is communication and who can build a trusting relationship with our daughter through patience, flexibility and a low-demand approach. Experience of autism, ADHD, PDA or additional needs would be beneficial, although a willingness to learn and a genuinely caring nature are just as important.
The role may involve supporting our daughter to access activities in the community, helping her develop confidence and independence, accompanying her on outings, and providing opportunities for positive experiences away from the pressures of school and daily life.
We are looking for someone who is kind, dependable, emotionally aware and able to think creatively. The right person will understand that success is not always measured by completing an activity, but sometimes simply by helping a child feel safe, regulated and understood.
Above all, we are looking for someone who can become a positive and trusted part of our family’s support network and help our children thrive.
