Educational Assistant / Education Manager (Children's Academic Support)
I am seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organized Educational Assistant/Education Manager who can commit for a minimum of 6–9 months.
This role is primarily focused on supporting the education, academic progress, and personal development of three children. Approximately 80–90% of the role will involve direct educational support for the children, with the remaining time dedicated to planning, preparation, scheduling, administration, and coordination.
Working Schedule
Ideally, I am looking for someone who can work 6 days per week, although 5 days may be considered, provided that either Saturday or Sunday is included.
The children are typically at home until approximately 8:00 a.m., and I would expect this time to be used productively. For example, the child preparing for 11+ examinations may complete practice papers before school, which the Educational Assistant would supervise and support.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the children's academic schedules, and educational and personal development.
Coordinate with tutors, teachers, schools, and extracurricular providers.
Ensure homework, assignments, projects, and tutor-set work are completed to a high standard and on time.
Organize revision schedules, mock examinations, quizzes, and independent study sessions.
Track progress and identify academic strengths and weaknesses.
Maintain records of assessments, targets, and outcomes.
Assist with educational planning and school admissions processes.
Provide occasional administrative support related to school applications and admissions.
Accompany children on educational outings and activities when required.
Run occasional errands, including purchasing items for the children and assisting with child-related logistics.
Be flexible, supportive, positive, and willing to help wherever needed.
Child 1: 11+ Preparation (High Priority)
The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of the UK independent school admissions process and experience supporting pupils preparing for examinations such as:
ISEB
Consortium Exams
CAT4
CEM
School-specific entrance assessments and interviews
With only a limited number of months remaining before admissions assessments, I need someone who can take ownership of the preparation process by:
Understanding the curriculum and content required.
Identifying gaps in knowledge and skills.
Directing and/or coordinating with tutors regarding priorities and learning objectives.
Supervising mock exams and practice papers.
Monitoring revision and progress.
Ensuring all school and tutor assignments are completed.
Teaching or reinforcing concepts when appropriate.
Maintaining a structured and results-focused preparation plan.
Child 2: 13+ Preparation
The second child is preparing for potential senior school admissions in the coming year. As this child did not complete the traditional 11+ journey, the Educational Assistant will need to help bridge any gaps in 11+ knowledge while simultaneously preparing for 13+ level expectations.
Child 3: 7+ Preparation
The youngest child requires daily support with:
Reading
Writing
Spelling and vocabulary
Multiplication and division
General numeracy
Early 7+ examination preparation
Additional Requirements
Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ADHD, autism, dyspraxia, or related learning differences, would be highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will not simply coordinate tutors but will actively work with the children, supervise independent study, conduct revision sessions, and reinforce learning.
A driving licence would be advantageous. If able to drive, the candidate may occasionally take the children on educational outings, excursions, and recreational activities.
Ideal Candidate
You are:
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Warm, energetic, and child-focused.
Flexible and solution-oriented.
Experienced with UK independent school admissions and academic preparation.
Comfortable managing multiple priorities.
Able to motivate children while maintaining high expectations.
Committed to helping children achieve their full potential and gain admission to the best schools suited to their abilities.
The overall aim of this role is to provide exceptional educational support, structure, and guidance to help each child thrive academically and personally.
Travel Opportunity: The role may involve accompanying the family during school holidays, including trips to Dubai and destinations across Europe. The ideal candidate will enjoy travel, be adaptable, and be happy to continue supporting the children's educational and developmental goals while away from home. All travel-related expenses will be covered by the family.
