About Me
We’re a family of four who love a home that’s busy, welcoming and full of personality. There are always books lying around, artwork on the walls, a DIY project on the go and usually someone making a cup of tea or a snack. We love having people over and hope our home is somewhere people feel comfortable, relaxed and welcome.
Dad is an engineer and the person everyone calls when something needs fixing. He loves a DIY challenge, can turn his hand to almost anything and has a brilliant mathematical brain.
Mum is an Assistant Principal at a secondary school in London and happily admits to being a complete English and History geek. When she’s not at school, you’ll probably find her crafting, planning the next family adventure or persuading everyone to spend the weekend exploring a castle, museum or historic site!
Mila is 13 and wonderfully kind. She loves reading, creating art and chatting to people, and has a calm, thoughtful nature that puts people at ease.
Bennet is 8 and brings so much fun and laughter to our family. He’s autistic, loves Minecraft, enjoys making snacks for people and is happiest when he has someone to chat to, play a board game with or share one of his many fascinating questions. He thrives in calm, predictable environments with just a few people around him.
As a family, we value kindness above almost everything else. We try to be thoughtful, generous and the sort of people who leave things—and people—a little better than we found them. We’re far from perfect, but we genuinely try to put a bit of good into the world.
We’re not just looking for someone to supervise the children after school—we’re hoping to find someone kind, dependable and cheerful who’ll become a familiar part of our family’s week.
Because we both work some distance from home, we need a little help bridging the gap between the end of the school day and when we get back. Mila needs collecting from school, as we live in a rural area with no practical transport options, while Bennet arrives home from his specialist school in Oxford on arranged transport. There isn’t any wraparound care available, and we’ve found that what Bennet really needs after school isn’t lots of activities, but simply a calm home, a snack (which he’ll enthusiastically help to make!), someone to chat to and perhaps a board game until Mum or Dad gets home.

My Requirements
Because of where we live and where we both work, we’re looking for someone to become an important part of our family’s routine.
Both Mum and Dad work some distance from home, so we’re unable to get back in time for the end of the school day. Living out in the countryside also means there aren’t any practical transport options for our daughter, Mila, who attends school locally. She needs collecting each afternoon.
Bennet attends a specialist school in Oxford, and thankfully his transport to and from school is already arranged. However, unlike many mainstream schools, there isn’t any wraparound or after-school provision available. Bennet really thrives on is a calm, predictable home environment with just a few people around him. Busy after-school clubs or large groups simply aren’t the right fit for him. Plus: we want Mila to be able to get home and recharge after her school day!
We’re therefore looking for someone who can collect Mila from school, welcome Bennet home, help with an afternoon snack (which he’ll enthusiastically help to prepare himself!) and spend a relaxed hour or two with them until one of us gets home. We’re hoping to find someone who’ll become a familiar, trusted face in our children’s lives and enjoy being part of our warm, welcoming family.
