My Requirements

My son is a bright, curious, and energetic four-year-old with a strong interest in science, discovery, nature, and understanding how the world works. He learns through observation, experimentation, and cause-and-effect experiences and is naturally drawn to investigating how things function.

One of his strongest interests is food, fruit, seeds, growth, and life cycles. He is fascinated by how things grow, ripen, change, decay, and regenerate. He enjoys collecting seeds, comparing fruits, exploring textures, and observing changes in the natural world. He also has a particular interest in magnets, motion, movement, and mechanical cause and effect. He frequently asks questions about why things happen and enjoys learning through practical exploration.

He is active, inquisitive, and enjoys outdoor activities, sport, and hands-on learning experiences. He responds best to engaging, interactive teaching that combines structure with creativity.

Whilst he attends nursery and is settling well, I have chosen to defer his Reception entry so that he begins school at five rather than four. This is a personal educational decision rather than one driven by any developmental concerns. I would like to use this additional year intentionally to strengthen his foundations, accelerate his learning, and ensure he is confident, capable, and well prepared for Reception at an independent school.

As his parent, I find that learning at home often naturally turns into play, so I am looking for a tutor who can establish a positive educational relationship and create a clear distinction between play time and learning time.
