About Me

I live with my longterm fiance of 17 years, our 15 year old daughter and adult son. Now our own children are so much older we have decided to extend the same care, nurture and attention to other little ones; we have accumulated other family members along the way, our dog Teddington, our old cat Yoda, Fernanda the gecko and our two French hens Dusty Springfield and Etta James. We are currently in the final phase of our outdoor child setting so will be looking to start minding officially at the beginning of August.

At The Garden Patch, we believe childhood should be rooted in nature.
Our days are filled with muddy boots, curious questions, gentle hands and open hearts. Together we grow vegetables, care for our chickens, plant flowers for bees and butterflies, discover minibeasts, build dens, climb trees and celebrate the changing seasons.
We believe every living thing has value—from our hens to the tiniest ant—and through caring for the natural world, children learn kindness, responsibility and respect.
We hope the memories made here last a lifetime, inspiring our Little Wildlings to become thoughtful guardians of nature, wherever life takes them.

My Experience

Apart from raising our own children which consisted of lots of outdoor play, farm trips and wildlife walks, I currently work at a forest school preschool in Guildford which has given me so much inspiration for our own outdoor setting; I have seen how beneficial outdoor educational play can be, not just for cognitive development but confidence, independence, fine and gross motor skills…..
…Our setting has been created at the end of our garden, from our 3m tipi tent for nap times, story times and more, to our extra large mud and sand pits, we have spent a lot of time and thought whilst creating the best space for your little ones to enjoy, we have a climbing zone made from repurposed car and tractor tyres, water play zone, mud kitchen, sensory play table, outdoor dining space under cover for those wet days, planting areas for vegetables/flower growing (as part of our curriculum) and a separate utility tent for those toilet training or needing nappy changes (all screened off of course).
Best of all in August we will have our very own fire pit and seating area for fire circle times.
