Maya
Babysitter in London
My Summary
About Me
Hi, I'm Maya! I'm a St Andrews graduate with a Master's, and a First Class undergraduate in Psychology, grounded in Child Psychology, as well as Kindergarten Observation experience, with a real love for child development and a genuine joy in spending time with children.
I grew up between Malta, Prague, and St Petersburg with time in Paris and Nice, so I feel completely at home with families from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures. I speak English natively, French conversationally, and have some Russian too. Outside of childcare, I love trapeze, tennis, running, piano, skiing, and reading, so whether your little one wants to run around the park or curl up for a quiet afternoon, I'm very happy either way! I'm also a big dog lover and completely comfortable including dog walks or pet care alongside childcare if that's ever helpful. I also have a five-year-old sister!
Having grown up with nannies who are still close to my heart today, I understand just how much trust goes into welcoming someone into your family. I don't take that lightly and am still in touch with families I worked with who would be delighted to provide references if needed.
My Experience
I have built up experience across a wide range of ages and settings. Most recently, I worked as a live-in nanny in London, caring for children aged 18 months and 3 years, and I also spent two rewarding months providing specialist one-on-one support for a 5-year-old with autism. I spent three summers during my studies running summer camps, I have newborn experience, and lots of babysitting hours across different family setups over the years.
My Psychology background means I genuinely understand how children develop emotionally and socially, and I try to bring that into everything, whether that's helping a toddler through a tricky moment, supporting a child who learns a little differently, or helping older children with reading, homework, or just having someone calm and consistent around.
My Qualifications
I hold a First Class undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Stirling and a Master's from the University of St Andrews, with a focus on child development and human behaviour. I have an enhanced DBS check from working with the London-based agency Little Ones, with whom I also bring two months of specialist SEN experience supporting a child with autism. I have three years of leading structured childcare activities through summer camp work, and four months working with a family with a 3-year-old son with ADHD. I also have baby experience, having worked with a newborn from birth until she was six weeks old, and an 18-month-old as well.
My Availability
I'm based in Hampstead (NW3) and available weekends, as well as flexible weekday slots including early mornings, after school, and evenings and ad hoc work. I'm happy to discuss one-off bookings and regular arrangements, and I'm always open to last-minute requests where I can help. Feel free to message me and we can find something that works!
