My Summary

My Experience

In terms of babysitting, I've been working on-call with a boy aged 8 since January. Usually my main responsibilities are entertaining him for a while, sometimes giving him dinner although the food was always pre-prepared, then settling him for bed and reading him a story.

I've taken many volunteer positions in child-oriented activities, such as a school Drama programme, which I worked with for 6 years as a student director. This involved working with kids for around 3 months, two-three days after school, to put on spring and autumn plays. I was often the sole student volunteer working alongside our drama teacher, and was responsible for a range of children, usually 10-15 kids per season, and usually aging between 10-16 years old.

I also created and lead a creative writing workshop for middle and high school students, once a week for two years, which involved creating a weekly syllabus focusing on some aspect of writing—such as a specific genre or authorial technique—then leading a writing exercise, such as character creation or workshopping independent projects.

I was part of a school partnership programme where I worked with a Kindergarten class (around 4-6 years old), once a week for a year. This involved participating in Morning Time, where we sung songs and told stories, giving simple art lessons, playing outside, and reading.

Additionally, I have experience in adolescent counselling; I was part of a Peer Support programme in my school, where older students were given basic counselling and support skills following Samaritans training. I was then able to provide support in a safe environment for any students in middle and high school.

My Qualifications

I don't have formal childcare qualifications, I do formal experience in childcare and babysitting. Additionally, I have relevant qualifications that I believe make me a good fit to babysit/nanny.

I completed first aid training two years ago, and am planning to get my paediatric first aid qualifications in the summer. I also have basic counselling training following the Samaritans method aimed at children and adolescents.

I completed the IBDP with 37 points and am currently studying at university, and have previous experience with early learning development, so I believe I'm qualified to help children in a variety in of academic topics and facilitate early learning.

Additionally, while I'm not fluent in Spanish, I am conversational, and would be very confident to teach beginner and intermediate lessons. My CERN qualification level is around a B2, as per the IB standards.

My Availability

As I am currently studying, my hours will have to work around my uni timetable, however I have quite a lot of flexibility around my classes and would be happy to adjust as necessary. Ideally, I'd do before/after school, and would be available on weekends if necessary.
