My Summary
Babysitter
About Me
I am a qualified early years practitioner with significant work experience in the childcare industry, having had 2 years of work experience to the present day. A babysitter is empathetic and listens attentively. I enjoy communicating with staff members, working collaboratively, but I also contribute my own ideas to carry out effective practice in the early years setting. I have always been punctual, reached targets to help children reach their developmental milestones, and ensure the setting maintains a professional standard of practice to provide the best outcomes for children. I have cousins of different ages ranges, including babies and toddlers, and feel I am a patient, caring person. I have comprehensive knowledge of the EYFS (early years foundation stage), an important piece of legislation which sets the guidelines to children’s learning, development, and wellbeing. I have effective communication skills, trustworthy, and convey my ideas clearly.
My Experience
Work experience Student – Evergreen early years nursery – September 2024 to June 2025
For the past year, I have been attending work experience at Evergreen early years nursery which provides care for children aged 2-4 based in Preston, Fulwood. I joined Evergreen to gain experience of what a nursery setting is like, and to improve my skills as I am working towards my qualification.
Key responsibilities
Reading the setting’s legislation such as fire evacuation, and safeguarding procedure, and implementing this knowledge through a direct example of the staff members conducting fire evacuation procedures, and helping the children go through the fire exit
Supporting staff members through circle time, lessons, by being in ratio, and helping the staff members with phonics or reading stories by doing it myself whilst the staff members went for first aid training or a meeting
Effective communication with staff member concerning the needs of SEN (special educational needs) children, and what their favourite toy or strategy to calm the child down
Tidying up after lunch time, and toys if the children are being taught a lesson, following the nursery’s infection, and control policy by wiping tables, sanitising toys
Helping children follow the daily routine, helping them wash their hands, before and after lunch, before children go outside, helping the children tidying, and making sure the children know where to go to their lessons
Work experience Student – Queens drive primary school – September 2025 – February 2026
For six months, I did work experience with 4–5-year-olds, building the knowledge, and skills of having experience with a different age group. This helped me work towards my qualification, and it is important to be punctual, organised, maintaining good relationships with staff members which helps to greatly improve my practice in the setting.
