About Me

We are a busy professional family with two young children who are 9 and 2 (and another baby due later this year), a large, friendly Rhodesian Ridgeback and two cats. Our home is busy and lived in, so we're looking for someone who enjoys helping families stay organised and on top of household tasks.

Being comfortable around children and pets is essential.

Part-Time Housekeeper (Potential to Combine with Mother's Help Role) – Sonning Common, Oxfordshire

We are a friendly, busy family based in Sonning Common looking for a reliable, proactive and experienced housekeeper to help us keep our home running smoothly.

This is a long-term position for someone who enjoys creating a clean, organised and welcoming home. We're hoping to find someone who will become a familiar face and valued part of our family's routine.

Housekeeping Hours
- Approximately 8–10 hours per week
- Ideally split over 2–3 mornings, with a preference for Monday or Tuesday, Friday, and potentially a Wednesday morning freshen-up visit
- Self-employed
- £18–22 per hour, depending on experience

The role

This is a true housekeeping role rather than a standard cleaning position.

Tasks will include:
- Thorough cleaning throughout the house
- Rotating deep-cleaning tasks
- Keeping the kitchen, bathrooms and living areas spotless
- Dusting, vacuuming and mopping
- Changing bed linen
- Laundry, ironing and folding
- Helping to put clothes and washing away
- Organising cupboards, wardrobes and storage areas
- Helping keep children's areas tidy and organised
- Keeping on top of the little jobs that make a busy household run smoothly

We're looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining a high standard, has a great eye for detail, and enjoys being proactive. We'd love to find someone who can help take some of the mental load away from a busy mum by noticing what needs doing, taking initiative, and keeping the home running smoothly without needing constant direction.

Future opportunity – Mother's Help

From February, we will also be looking for someone to support mum in a mother's help role as we settle into life with a newborn and our two-year-old.

This would not be a sole-charge nanny position. Instead, it would involve supporting mum with childcare while she is at home, helping with the children, keeping them entertained, assisting with routines, and generally making family life run more smoothly.

For the right person, we'd be delighted to combine the roles into one position of approximately 26–28 hours per week, consisting of:
- Housekeeping: 8–10 hours per week over 2–3 mornings.
- Mother's Help: Four afternoons per week, Monday–Thursday, approximately 1.30pm–6.00pm.

If you're interested in both housekeeping and childcare, we'd love to hear from you, although applications are equally welcome from those interested in the housekeeping role alone.

We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in housekeeping (childcare experience is a bonus if interested in the combined role)
- Reliable, trustworthy and organised
- Friendly, warm and discreet
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Comfortable around a large dog and two cats
- Looking for a long-term role with a lovely family

We'd love to find someone who enjoys building a relationship with the families they work with and who wants to become a trusted part of our household.

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch with a little information about yourself, your experience and your availability.
