Sandra
Registered Childminder with Special Needs Experience Job in London
About Me
My name is Sandra, and I originally come from Stockholm, Sweden. I am 38 years old and work full-time as a Personal Assistant at a Private Equity firm in Central London.
I have two wonderful children: Alice (11) and Liam (14). As I work full-time and my children now live with me full-time, I am looking for some additional support for my daughter, Alice, who is autistic.
Alice is a bright, bubbly and affectionate girl with a wonderful sense of humour and an incredible imagination. She has a real passion for drawing, baking and spending time outdoors. She absolutely adores our two Sphynx cats and loves anything to do with animals.
Alice dreams of one day moving to Japan to live on a farm surrounded by animals while enjoying Japanese culture and cuisine. She is curious, creative and full of personality, and with the right encouragement she has so much potential to flourish.
I am looking for someone who can become a trusted adult in Alice's life—someone she can build a genuine bond with, look up to as a positive role model, and feel comfortable talking to. More than anything, I hope to find someone who will become a friend and mentor, supporting her to grow in confidence, develop greater independence, and enjoy new experiences.
My Requirements
I am looking for a warm, kind and reliable mentor to support my wonderful 11-year-old daughter, Alice, who is autistic.
My hope is to find someone who will become a trusted adult in Alice's life – someone she can build a genuine bond with, look up to as a positive role model, and feel comfortable talking to. I am looking for much more than childcare; I am looking for someone who can provide encouragement, companionship and gentle guidance as she grows in confidence and independence.
The role may include:
Spending quality one-to-one time with Alice, building trust at her own pace.
Supporting with homework and encouraging a positive attitude towards learning.
Helping her develop independence through everyday life skills such as cooking, baking and light household tasks.
Going on walks, visits to the park and other outdoor activities.
Encouraging confidence, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
Providing a calm, patient and neuro-affirming approach that respects Alice's individual needs and strengths.
I am looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting autistic or neurodivergent children or young people.
Is patient, understanding and able to build trusting relationships.
Is fun, engaging and enjoys being active outdoors.
Can encourage independence without pressure.
Has an Enhanced DBS check (or is willing to obtain one) and can provide references.
Ideally has a background in education, psychology, occupational therapy, youth work, SEN support, social care or similar, although the right personality is just as important as qualifications.
This would be a part-time position, with hours to be agreed, ideally on a long-term basis to allow Alice to develop a strong and consistent relationship.
If you believe you could make a positive difference in Alice's life, we would love to hear from you.
