I am a state-certified History teacher in China and a native Mandarin speaker, based in Westminster. I hold an MSc in History from the University of Edinburgh, a BA in History, the Chinese State Senior High School Teacher Qualification Certificate, and the National Putonghua Proficiency Certification (PSC).
My teaching brings together clear structure, careful explanation and genuine intellectual curiosity. I aim to give pupils not only the knowledge they need for an examination, but also the confidence to read carefully, ask good questions and develop their own understanding.
I offer tuition in Mandarin, History, Art History and Humanities.
Mandarin support ranges from early learning and 7+/11+ preparation to GCSE, IB and HSK. As a native speaker with formal Putonghua certification, I place particular emphasis on accurate standard pronunciation, alongside the development of speaking, reading and writing.
In History, Art History and Humanities, I help pupils develop the foundations of academic thinking: reading comprehension, close attention to evidence, source analysis, contextual understanding and clear, structured argument. I work with pupils from KS2 and KS3 through GCSE, and can also support bilingual and international pupils who are adapting to the expectations of British independent schools.
Having studied History in both China and Britain, I am particularly well placed to help pupils who are moving between educational cultures. I understand that adapting to a British classroom is not simply a matter of learning more content; pupils may also need to become comfortable with independent reading, questioning, interpretation and expressing an argument in their own words.
I offer in-person home tuition across Westminster (SW1P), Chelsea (SW3) and South Kensington (SW7), as well as online lessons.
I am also a member of The London Library in St James’s, where I continue my own reading and historical research.
My Experience
My background combines formal History teacher training, academic study and ongoing historical research. I hold a Chinese State Senior High School Teacher Qualification Certificate and have studied History at both BA and MSc level, including an MSc in History from the University of Edinburgh.
Alongside teaching, I continue to develop my own historical research through independent study in London’s libraries, archives and cultural institutions. This has strengthened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly, read and analyse written and visual sources, structure essays and arguments, and give thoughtful, constructive feedback.
As a native Mandarin speaker with National Putonghua Proficiency Certification (PSC), I also support learners in developing accurate pronunciation, vocabulary, reading comprehension and written expression.
I tailor lessons to each pupil’s age, confidence, learning needs and academic goals, whether they are developing foundational skills in primary school, preparing for secondary education and GCSE, or studying in a bilingual or international-school environment.
My approach is calm, structured and encouraging. I want pupils not only to understand what they are learning, but gradually to become more confident in reading, asking questions, forming their own ideas and expressing them clearly.
My Qualifications

I am a native Mandarin speaker and a trained History educator, with particular strengths in History, Art History, source analysis, essay writing and Humanities. My academic and research experience enables me to explain complex ideas clearly and help pupils develop confident, structured and independent thinking.
My Availability
I am available from Monday to Thursday after school and in the evenings, on Friday afternoons and evenings, and at weekends in the mornings and afternoons. I offer in-person home visits across Westminster, SW1, Chelsea/SW3 and South Kensington/SW7, as well as online lessons. Availability can be arranged around each family’s timetable.
My Fees
- Tutoring from £65.00 per hour
My private tuition rates start from £65 per hour. Primary, 11+ and general Mandarin support is from £65; GCSE History, Humanities and Mandarin tuition from £70; A-Level, IB and specialist academic mentoring from £80. Home-visit rates may vary according to location and session length. Online tuition is also available.
