About Me
We are a warm, busy family of four living in Edinburgh, with two children aged nearly four and 21 months. They are affectionate, active and used to a close relationship with their current nanny, who is moving back to Australia. Our older child loves imaginative play, dressing up, books and theatre; our younger child loves books, music, floor play and being outdoors. Both attend nursery three days a week. We value calm, engaged childcare, plenty of play and conversation, and someone who feels comfortable working independently while a parent may sometimes be elsewhere in the house.
My Requirements
We are looking for a reliable, confident and proactive live-out part-time nanny/family assistant from 16 September 2026, ideally for at least a year.
The core role is 18 guaranteed hours per week:
• Tuesday 3–8pm
• Wednesday 3–8pm
• One weekend day, either 9am–5pm or 10am–6pm. Saturday or Sunday would be agreed approximately one month ahead and, when we have no preference, we are happy for the nanny to choose.
Paid trial shifts are available between 11 and 26 August before the September start.
The role involves sole charge of two children aged nearly four and 21 months. Tuesday includes afternoon play, dinner and bedtime. Wednesday includes children's meal preparation, nursery collection, dinner, bath and bedtime. The weekend day is for engaged play, activities and outings. We would also like help with child-related cooking and meal preparation, plus clearing up after meals and activities and keeping the children's spaces organised.
Driving is highly desirable, although not essential for the right person. A family car would be provided for any driving required, so the nanny would not need to have their own car.
We are looking for somebody warm and playful but also confidently in charge, highly reliable and punctual, able to take initiative and genuinely comfortable caring for two young children. Strong references and PVG membership are essential; paediatric first aid and professional childcare experience are strongly preferred.
There may occasionally be additional paid evenings, overnights or family travel, always by prior mutual agreement. The permanent role will be employed through PAYE/payroll, with a competitive gross rate depending on experience.
