My Childcare Requirements

We are looking for an experienced childcare professional to provide flexible, ad hoc help caring for our young twin boys.

We already have our main childcare arrangements in place, so this isn't a full-time nanny position. Instead, we'd like to find one or two trusted people who can get to know the boys and become part of our wider childcare support network.

Help could include occasional weekdays, evenings and weekends, holiday or sickness cover, additional support when one of us is travelling for work, and occasional babysitting. Some dates would be arranged well in advance, while occasionally we may ask about availability at shorter notice. There is absolutely no expectation that you would always be available.

The role

When you're with the boys, your primary focus would be creating a happy, stimulating and secure environment for them.

Depending on the time and length of the booking, this could include:

- Providing warm, attentive childcare.
- Playing, reading and doing age-appropriate activities.
- Spending lots of time outdoors and exploring our garden and countryside surroundings.
- Crafts, simple cooking and creative activities.
- Supporting naps, meals and established routines.
- Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the boys.
- Taking the boys on occasional outings.
- Nursery runs or other activities where appropriate.
- Keeping things reasonably tidy and organised after activities and meals.

This isn't a housekeeping role. We want your time and attention to be focused primarily on the boys.

Who we're looking for

We're particularly interested in someone who is:

- Warm, calm, patient and emotionally intelligent.
- Confident caring for babies and young children.
- Comfortable caring for twins.
- Reliable and organised.
- Able to use their own initiative.
- A confident driver, ideally with experience driving in the UK.
- Happy spending time outdoors in all seasons.
- Comfortable working in a rural family home.

Experience in childcare, Early Years education, teaching, nursing, Montessori or a similar area would be very welcome, although personality, judgement and the relationship you develop with the boys matter most to us.

This could work particularly well for someone who already works part-time, studies, works shifts, has their own family commitments, or simply prefers flexible work rather than a permanent nanny position.

We're based in rural West Norfolk, so ideally we'd like to find someone reasonably local who could become one of the people we regularly call when we need additional help.

Rather than finding someone for a single babysitting job, we're hoping to build an ongoing relationship with someone the boys can become comfortable with and who enjoys spending time with them.
