About Me
Hello, I’m Dawn, an experienced SEN Babysitter based in St Thomas, Exeter. I offer reliable, caring babysitting for children of all ages, with particular experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, PDA and other additional needs.
I currently work as a Learning Support Assistant in a SEND provision during term time and also as bank nursery staff. Alongside my professional experience, I’m the mum of two grown-up neurodivergent children. This has given me a deep personal understanding of how important it is for every child to feel safe, understood and valued, and how difficult it can be for some families to find childcare that truly meets their child’s needs.
I’m calm, friendly and approachable, and I enjoy creating a fun, relaxed environment where children can thrive. I love imaginative play, sensory play, arts and crafts, reading stories, cooking and baking together, board games and activities that encourage creativity, confidence and enjoyment. I believe every child is unique, so I take the time to get to know their personality, interests and individual needs.
My aim is to provide childcare that gives parents complete peace of mind, knowing their child is safe, happy and cared for by someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with children. I’m always happy to arrange a meeting beforehand so we can get to know each other, discuss your child’s routine and needs, and make sure I’m the right fit for your family.
My Experience
I have over 25 years’ experience working with children, including as a registered childminder, nanny, nursery assistant, teaching assistant, art teacher and currently a 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant. I have supported children with autism, ADHD, PDA, emotional regulation difficulties and children who find traditional settings challenging.
My Qualifications
I am a qualified teacher with a BA Hons in Art & Design and a PGCE in Design Technology. My training includes safeguarding, autism, ADHD, trauma-informed care, mental health support, Lego therapy, Draw and Talk therapy, communication support for children with ASD and Play work Training.
My main job involves working with young people with complex needs. As such I have an up to date Enhanced DBS Check – registered on the DBS Update Service (current). I am happy to provide my DBS details and consent for families to complete an update service check to confirm my DBS status.
My Availability
I am available for evening, weekend and school holiday babysitting.
I am happy to provide occasional or regular babysitting and understand that every family is different. If your child would benefit from meeting me beforehand, I am happy to arrange an introductory visit so they can get to know me in a relaxed, familiar environment before their first babysitting session.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £12.00 per hour
My babysitting rate is £12.00 per hour.
I appreciate that choosing the right babysitter is an important decision, particularly for families of children with additional needs. I am happy to arrange a free introductory meeting so we can get to know each other, discuss your child’s individual needs and ensure everyone feels comfortable before any babysitting takes place.
I understand that some children need longer to build trust, so I am happy to work with families to make introductions at a pace that suits their child. My aim is to provide a calm, safe and enjoyable experience where children feel accepted, understood and able to be themselves.
