About Me
Hello, I'm Sophie, an OFSTED registered childminder based in Churchdown, Gloucestershire, and the proud owner of Sophie's Cubs.
My aim is to provide a safe, nurturing and home-from-home environment where children feel happy, secure and valued. I believe every child learns best through play, exploration and positive relationships, and I enjoy creating fun, engaging activities that support each child's individual development.
I work closely with parents to build strong partnerships, ensuring every child receives the best possible care and encouragement to thrive. Whether your child enjoys messy play, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, stories or imaginative play, I provide a wide range of experiences that help them grow in confidence while having fun.
I hold a Paediatric First Aid qualification, I have SEND experience and I am committed to providing high-quality childcare in line with the EYFS framework.
My Childcare Service
At Sophie's Cubs, I offer a warm, caring and stimulating home environment for children from infancy through to school age.
I offer:
- Full day childcare (7:30am-5:30pm)
- Half day sessions (7:30-12:30 or 12:30-17:30)
- Before and after school care (Including School drop off and pick up)
- School holiday care
- Government funded childcare places for eligible children
- School drop-offs and collections for Longlevens Infant/Junior School
- Healthy breakfasts, Snacks and drinks (Including cows milk)
- Daily outdoor play and local outings
- Creative play, messy play, sensory activities, baking, music and story time
- Learning experiences tailored to each child's age, interests and stage of development
- Regular communication with parents to share children's progress and special moments

My Experience
I have 12 years of experience working in caring professions, developing strong skills in safeguarding, communication, patience and providing high-quality care for children and families.
Before becoming an OFSTED-registered childminder, I spent 10 years working with children and families through my career in healthcare, where I developed excellent skills in safeguarding, communication, patience and providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. I then spent 2 years working in a specialist school supporting children and young people aged 2 to 16 with additional needs. This role gave me valuable experience in providing individualised support, encouraging independence, adapting activities to meet different abilities, and helping children reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
I am now an OFSTED-registered childminder and have completed all the required training, including Paediatric First Aid, to provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating home-from-home setting.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and plan activities around each child's interests, abilities and stage of development. My aim is to help children build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy learning through play while creating strong, trusting relationships with both children and their families.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am–5:30pm
