Hi! I'm Melanie, a 19-year-old student at the University of Surrey. I love working with children and have over 2 years of experience through roles as a primary school teaching assistant and a science after-school club leader.
I am the oldest of four girls, so looking after younger children has always been a big part of my life! I enjoy getting stuck into crafts, games, reading stories, helping with homework, and making sure children feel happy and comfortable while their parents are away.
I have an Enhanced DBS check, as well as paediatric first aid and anaphylaxis training, so you can feel confident that your children are in safe hands. I'm responsible, caring and friendly, and always aim to create a fun, positive environment for the children I look after.
Before a booking, I'd love to have a quick video call or meet your family so everyone feels comfortable. I also ask that parents please fill out a quick form providing basic details such as routines, emergency contacts and any allergies or medical conditions so I can provide the best care possible.
My Experience
I have worked with primary school children for over 2 years as a teaching assistant and science club leader, supporting children aged 5-11. Through these roles I've supervised groups of children, helped with learning activities, encouraged confidence and independence, and made sure everyone had fun while staying safe.
Alongside my professional experience, growing up as the oldest sister to three younger sisters has given me plenty of hands-on experience with childcare, bedtime routines, entertaining children and helping with day-to-day responsibilities.
My Qualifications
I am a Biosciences student at the University of Surrey and hold an Enhanced DBS check. I have completed Safeguarding Awareness Training, Paediatric First Aid Training and Anaphylaxis Training.
My Availability
I am generally available during evenings, weekends and some daytime hours depending on my university timetable, as well as school holidays. Please feel free to contact me to discuss specific dates and times.
