Steve
Professional family seeking Nanny with experience working with neurodiverse children
About Me
We are two professional working parents looking for a warm, confident and experienced nanny to provide one-to-one care for our lovely six-year-old son, initially during the remainder of the summer holidays, with the possibility of ongoing support for a few hours after school each day during term time.
Our son is a bright, affectionate, funny and very inquisitive little boy. He loves understanding how things work. His particular interests include Lego, engineering, trains, ships, science, maths, swimming, cycling, climbing and music. He is very articulate, enjoys talking to adults and can become completely absorbed in things that interest him. He is also neurodivergent, with autism and ADHD, together with sensory-processing and emotional-regulation needs.
We are therefore particularly interested in someone with experience of bright, neurodivergent children with additional regulation needs, ideally someone familiar with neuroaffirming, low-arousal or therapeutic approaches. Experience as a SENCO, teaching assistant, SEND teacher or similar would also be very welcome.
We are a supportive family and would work closely with the right person to share the strategies that work well for our son and help them build a positive and trusting relationship with him.
My Requirements
We are looking for a warm, confident and reliable nanny to provide one-to-one care for our six-year-old son during the remainder of the summer holidays, with the possibility of continuing for a few hours after school during term time. We would particularly value someone with experience of autistic/ADHD or other neurodivergent children who can provide calm, positive and engaging support, both at home and on outings and activities. The ability to build a trusting relationship, recognise when he may be becoming overwhelmed and support his regulation while encouraging his interests and independence would be particularly important to us.
