About Me
Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m a student nurse returning to hospital placement in October and I’m looking for the right person to support my 5-year-old son, Eli, around my placement hours.
Eli is a happy, loving little boy who has profound autism and is non-verbal. He communicates in his own way and thrives with familiar routines, patience and understanding. He needs someone who can support him in a calm, safe and nurturing way, while getting to know his individual needs and personality.
We are based in the S2 area of Sheffield. Eli has school transport arranged, so the support needed is within our home before and after school.
Finding someone who Eli feels comfortable and safe with is really important to us, and we would love to find someone kind, reliable and experienced with SEN who can become a trusted person in his life.
My Requirements
I am looking for an experienced SEN childcare/support worker for my 5-year-old son, Eli, who has profound autism and is non-verbal.
Support is required around my hospital nursing placement hours:
Monday–Friday (during placement periods):
7.00am–8.30am: Support in our home with Eli’s morning routine, helping him get ready and settled for his school transport, which collects him at approximately 8.15am.
3.00pm–5.00pm: Support when Eli returns home from school transport, helping with his transition home, sensory needs, activities, play and after-school routine until I return from placement.
No school transport is required as Eli already has transport arranged.
The ideal person will have experience supporting children with SEN, particularly autism and non-verbal communication. They will need to be patient, understanding and able to support Eli’s individual routines, communication style and sensory needs.
The childcare will need to meet the requirements for payment through my Student Finance Childcare Grant.
