Registered Childminder Job in Prenton
About Me
Our family recently moved to the UK from the US, and we’re getting settled and looking for help with childcare. Hours are flexible and part time, roughly between 15-25hrs/week. We’re home-educating our 6-year-old and 3-year-old, and our approach is Montessori-influenced and fairly child-led — our son also spent three years at a Montessori school prior. We’ve had a nanny since our children were born, as we both work from home full time, so they’re well used to having another adult around.
Our kiddos are fun and pretty easy going. Care is based at our home, so we’re looking for someone genuinely creative with crafts, games and hands-on learning indoors — we have a small garden and a play set on the way. Our children respond best to someone animated and expressive, a bit like a CBeebies presenter: happy to sing, be silly, and get down on the floor and play. We use clear boundaries, but we hold them warmly — we talk children through the big feelings that come with hearing “no,” and there are always cuddles available, even when they’ve done something they shouldn’t have. We don’t use time-outs, shouting or reward charts. We’d love someone who sees a struggling child as capable and lets them attempt things themselves before stepping in (when it’s safe to do so).
My Requirements
While we settle into a routine, we’re looking for flexible childcare with some support on home-education activities — reading together, setting up crafts and hands-on learning, and tidying up afterwards. Hours are open at this stage and we’re happy to work around the right person’s availability.
