About Me
I have 6 years of childcare experience across various educational and recreational settings. I love working with children and one day hope to complete a teaching degree or work in childcare policy. My approach to childcare is always centred on providing a nurturing environment for children to thrive in. I take the time to build genuine relationships with the children I take care of to ensure I get to know what interests them as well as what they find challenging. By understanding their individual needs, I can provide catered care, ensuring they are comfortable and happy whilst away from their primary carer(s). My personal interests include arts and crafts, the outdoors, cooking and the performing arts, and love introducing children to these types of activities within my work.
My Experience
My most recent childcare position was as a temporary teaching assistant in schools across London from September 2025 - November 2025 with children aged 3-12. My responsibilities included supporting children with their writing, maths, reading, etc. in class and in small groups. This included some 1:1 support for children with learning disabilities to help them engage with their work. I also supervised the children in the playground and helped them with any issues they had.
Furthermore, my longest role in childcare was at an after-school club in Edinburgh from 2022 - 2025. As a playworker, my colleagues and I ran a fun and safe service for 80 children aged 4-12 years. My main responsibilities included running indoor/outdoor activities for the children such as arts and crafts, science, group games, and sports. I also took on a 1:1 role for a child with learning disabilities where I helped her engage positively with different play experiences. My other responsibilities also included preparing and serving snacks, organising play materials, and tidying after activities.
Moreover, I have worked at two summer camps; one in the USA from June 2022 - August 2022 with children aged 7-17 and one in Spain from June 2023 - July 2023 with children aged 10 - 16. During these positions I led activities including gymnastics/dance, arts and crafts, group games, and excursions outside of the camp. As these were both residential camps, I also helped children with their night/morning routines and supported them with any issues they had being away from home. Other responsibilities included managing the children's medication and play materials.
Finally, my first childcare role was babysitting for my family and local families from 2020 - 2021 with children aged 3 - 8 years. My responsibilities included playing games with the children, helping them get ready for bed and serving meals.
