Tahnee
Maternity Nurse in Chigwell
My Summary
Maternity Nurse | Newborn & Early Years Specialist
About Me
Hello, I’m Tahnee,
Warm, nurturing and highly experienced Deputy Head and Early Years Teacher with over 15 years’ experience working with babies, young children and families across independent schools, nursery settings and private childcare.
Alongside my role within Early Years education I also work as a Maternity Night Nurse at weekends, providing overnight newborn and postnatal support to a variety of families. This has given me extensive hands-on experience supporting newborn babies and new parents during the important early weeks and months following birth.
I have a strong understanding of newborn care, child development, safeguarding and the importance of creating calm, nurturing and responsive environments where babies and children can thrive. My maternity work includes supporting feeding, settling, newborn routines, overnight care and providing reassurance and practical guidance to parents while respecting each family’s individual parenting choices and preferences.
I am calm, patient, reliable and approachable with a genuine passion for supporting both children and their families. I particularly enjoy helping new parents feel confident and supported while establishing gentle, realistic routines that work for both baby and family.
My senior Early Years experience including working as a Deputy Head, Early Years Teacher, Nursery Manager and Inclusion Lead has provided me with extensive knowledge of child development, personalised care, safeguarding, additional needs and building strong, trusting relationships with parents and families.
I hold an enhanced DBS and I’m on the update service.
My Experience
Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of roles including Early Years Teacher, Nursery Manager, Deputy Head, SEN/Inclusion Lead, Maternity Nurse and Nanny, giving me a strong understanding of child development, early learning, safeguarding and the importance of creating a calm and positive environment for children.
My approach to childcare is nurturing, child-led and developmentally focused. I draw on principles from Montessori, Reggio Emilia and Forest School, using play, exploration, creativity and everyday experiences to encourage children's independence and development. I enjoy creating engaging activities, sensory experiences, outings and opportunities for children to learn naturally through play.
I understand how important it is for parents to have someone they can genuinely trust with their child. I pride myself on being reliable, calm, professional, and communicative, while also becoming a familiar and reassuring presence for the children in my care.
My Qualifications
I hold a Foundation Degree in Early Years Teaching and Leadership and a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, alongside training in safeguarding, paediatric first aid, SEND, speech and language and children's wellbeing and development.
