About Me

Hello - I'm Graham! I've worked in special schools since 2008, and been a headteacher for 5 1/2 years. I am offering tutoring and advice for parents. I am able to specialise for a vast array of needs and adept at choosing the right strategies based on the needs and profile of the child. I will only agree to supporting a child following a conversation from the primary caregiver(s) to ensure that all needs and considerations are made. Therefore, please tell me what the difficulties are, and what has previously worked (and not!).

Children must have trust in have fun and learn. I bring a range of resources, humour and a variety of formal and informal assessment to track progress.

Let's have a conversation if you have a child who benefits from: patience, care, an active listener, empathy (not sympathy), a variety of strategies to engage, alongside humour.

My Experience

With over 18 years of experience in education, including senior leadership and Headship within specialist SEND settings, I am passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential through personalised, nurturing and engaging learning experiences.

Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, communication needs, learning disabilities and anxiety-related barriers to education. I understand that every learner is unique and requires an approach tailored to their individual strengths, interests and goals.

As a qualified teacher and experienced school leader, I bring a wealth of knowledge in curriculum design, behaviour support, engagement strategies and SEND provision. My approach focuses on building positive relationships, developing confidence and creating a supportive learning environment where young people feel safe, understood and able to succeed.

I am also experienced in supporting learners accessing Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) packages commissioned by Local Authorities. I work collaboratively with families, education teams and professionals to provide flexible, high-quality educational support that meets individual needs and helps learners re-engage with education.

Alongside tutoring, I also provide educational consultancy to parents, schools and specialist settings in the areas of SEND, inclusion, safeguarding, leadership and school improvement. Maintaining direct work with children and young people ensures my practice remains current, relevant and firmly rooted in the realities faced by learners and families today.

My aim is always to help young people develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to thrive, both academically and personally.
