About Me

I am a 22-year-old, university-educated, award-winning playwright with both a BA and an MA. I grew up in Bristol as the eldest of four boys, raised by a single mother who works as a doctor. As the oldest, I took on a great deal of responsibility from a young age, regularly helping to care for and bring up my younger brothers. This gave me a natural confidence around children, as well as a strong sense of responsibility, patience and independence. One of my brothers has severe OCD, so I also have first-hand experience of supporting a young person who can require additional patience, understanding and sensitivity in day-to-day life.

At school, I was Head Boy and was heavily involved in a range of co-curricular activities. I am also a keen tennis player and musician. I play guitar and piano and sing, and for several years worked as a semi-professional musician, performing regularly alongside my studies and creative work. Since then, I have primarily made my living through writing, theatre and comedy.

After graduating from the University of Leeds, I completed a Master's in Acting at ArtsEd, one of the UK's leading drama schools. Since then, I have worked freelance across a variety of theatre and comedy productions, alongside professional writing commissions for organisations including the National Youth Theatre and other theatre companies.

Alongside my creative work, I regularly tutor English and music, and teaching is something I genuinely enjoy. I hold the PCertLAM teaching qualification and have experience teaching LAMDA and performance. My background as a semi-professional musician also means I am very comfortable helping children develop their musical interests and confidence. Through both teaching and my experience at home, I have learnt how important it is to adapt my approach to the individual child, while remaining patient, encouraging and dependable.

Childcare roles fit particularly well alongside my professional work. My performances and theatre commitments tend to fall in the evenings, meaning I often have good availability during the daytime and early evening. More importantly, having grown up helping to care for three younger brothers, I am very comfortable taking responsibility for children and understand the patience, energy and attentiveness that good childcare requires.

I would describe myself as creative, dependable, warm and proactive. Whether I am tutoring, helping with homework, playing music, getting outside for a game of tennis or encouraging a child's creative interests, I enjoy working with young people and take the responsibility of looking after them seriously.

My Experience

I have extensive childcare experience, both professionally and as the eldest of four brothers. I am confident with the day-to-day responsibilities of childcare, including cooking and preparing meals, school pick-ups and drop-offs, helping with homework, organising activities, maintaining routines and looking after multiple children at once.

I also regularly tutor English, music and performance, and enjoy keeping children active and engaged through music, sport, creative activities and games. I am proactive, dependable and always happy to help with household tasks where needed.

My Qualifications

I have a BA from the University of Leeds and a Master's in Acting from ArtsEd, as well as a PCertLAM teaching qualification. I have extensive experience tutoring children in English, music and performance, alongside professional experience as a writer and actor.

My childcare experience includes regularly caring for two children from the ages of 7 and 12 for 3 years, as well as helping to raise my three younger brothers, one of whom has severe OCD. This has given me plenty of hands-on experience with cooking, school runs, homework, bedtime routines, activities and the everyday responsibilities of looking after children.

My Availability

I have a flexible freelance schedule, so I am generally available during the daytime and early evenings throughout the week. My work in theatre and comedy means that some of my evenings are taken up by performances, but these are usually arranged in advance, so I can plan around childcare commitments. I am happy to discuss regular weekly hours as well as more flexible or occasional arrangements.
