About Me
We are a friendly family of four looking for a warm, reliable and highly organised nanny/housekeeper to care for our two children, aged four and two and a half, and to take an active role in managing the smooth day-to-day running of our home.
Both parents work full-time, so we need someone who is exceptionally organised, proactive and able to use their initiative.
My Requirements
Nanny/Housekeeper – Family of Four
This is a combined childcare and household-management position: we are looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of the many practical tasks involved in running a busy family home, rather than waiting to be directed each day.
Our four-year-old has recently started Reception, so the role will include taking him to school and collecting him each day. During school hours, the nanny will have sole charge of our two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. During school holidays, the role will involve caring for both children.
A full, clean driving licence is essential, and the successful candidate must be confident driving with young children.
Childcare responsibilities
* Completing the morning school run and afternoon collection
* Providing attentive, engaging daytime care for our younger child
* Planning age-appropriate activities, outings, playgroups and playdates
* Preparing and serving healthy meals and snacks for the children
* Supporting the children’s routines, development and independence
* Taking the children to activities, appointments and clubs as required
* Supporting our son with his Reception homework, reading, phonics and other schoolwork
* Keeping track of school information, homework, reading tasks and upcoming requirements
* Reinforcing learning through age-appropriate educational activities and play
* Managing bath time and the children’s evening routine where required
* Caring for both children during school holidays and when they are at home
* Keeping parents informed about the children’s days and any relevant matters
Household management and family support
We employ a separate cleaner, so this is not a heavy-cleaning role. However, household management is an important and substantial part of the position. We need someone who will take pride in keeping the home organised, tidy and running efficiently.
Responsibilities will include:
* Managing all family laundry from start to finish, including washing, drying, ironing, folding and putting everything away
* Changing and organising the children’s bedding
* Keeping the children’s bedrooms, play areas, toys and belongings consistently tidy and well organised
* Regularly sorting and rotating toys, books and clothes, and identifying items that are no longer needed or need replacing
* Keeping the kitchen and shared family areas tidy after meals and daily activities
* Preparing healthy family meals, including meal planning and occasional batch cooking
* Managing grocery shopping or online food orders and keeping track of household essentials
* Keeping school bags, uniforms, reading books, sports kits and activity equipment organised and ready
* Helping with day-to-day household administration, such as keeping track of appointments, school dates, activities, deliveries, returns and household errands
* Maintaining family lists, reminders and schedules where required
* Liaising with the cleaner and, where agreed, household suppliers or tradespeople
* Anticipating what needs to be done and addressing it without requiring constant instruction
* Helping create an organised, calm and welcoming family home
The ideal candidate
Strong organisation and household-management skills are essential for this role. We are looking for someone who:
* Is highly organised, efficient and able to manage multiple priorities
* Has previous experience managing the practical day-to-day needs of a busy household
* Is proactive, notices what needs doing and takes ownership of tasks through to completion
* Can establish and maintain effective systems for household administration, laundry, toys, clothes, school requirements and family schedules
* Understands the demands of supporting two parents who both work full-time
* Is kind, caring and genuinely enjoys working with young children
* Has experience caring for children of similar ages
* Is experienced and confident supporting Reception-aged children with homework, reading, phonics and schoolwork
* Encourages learning patiently and positively
* Is reliable, punctual and an excellent communicator
* Is calm and confident managing two young children
* Is a capable and confident family cook
* Is comfortable moving between childcare and household responsibilities as the family’s needs require
* Is looking to become a trusted and valued part of the family
Essential requirements
* Full, clean driving licence
* Previous professional childcare experience
* Demonstrable household-management and organisational experience
* Experience supporting early-years or Reception-level learning and homework
* Enhanced DBS check
* Current paediatric first-aid qualification
* Excellent and contactable references
* Right to work in the UK
* Non-smoker
