About Me
A little about us:
I’m a mum to Kimmi, a bright, funny, creative 10-year-old with ADHD and a strong PDA profile. We’re a relaxed, lively household in Balham, along with our two British Shorthair cats.
Kimmi is very much 10 going on 17! She loves cooking and baking, swimming, gymnastics/cheer, arts and crafts, hair and beauty, animals and films. She’s funny, chatty and full of personality, and when she clicks with someone, that relationship really matters to her.
She’s currently not attending school while recovering from burnout, so I’m looking for someone who can become a consistent, trusted person in her life - less of a traditional, authoritative nanny and more of a fun, responsible sidekick who genuinely enjoys spending time with her.
A little about me: I’m a professional DJ, so although most of the regular support will be during the week, I also need some evening/weekend babysitting around my work. I’m looking for someone reliable and easy-going who can become part of our little team long-term.
Kimmi’s support needs:
Kimmi needs a low-demand, non-authoritarian approach, with connection and trust coming before compliance. She can become dysregulated when she feels pressured, controlled or overwhelmed, so she does best with someone calm and emotionally regulated who won’t get drawn into power struggles. Choice, flexibility, humour, playfulness and collaborative language work really well with her. Most importantly, I’m looking for someone who understands that behaviour is communication and who is willing to build a genuine relationship with her gradually.
My Requirements
We’re looking for one consistent SEN/PDA-aware nanny/support worker for Kimmi, initially around 15 hours per week, with additional evening/weekend babysitting and additional household support hours.
Regular hours:
• Around 3 hours a day, Monday–Friday, ideally afternoons. Timings can be flexible as Kimmi isn’t currently attending school while recovering from burnout.
• Additional babysitting as needed, mainly Friday or Saturday evenings/ late nights.
The role:
I’m looking for someone who can become a consistent, trusted person in Kimmi’s life - spending time with her at home, getting involved in things she enjoys and taking her out to activities. We’re currently developing an EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School) package for her, and in time the role is likely to include supporting her to access some of her EOTAS activities and provision. Ideally, I’d love the same person to provide that continuity rather than having lots of different people supporting her.
The person we’re looking for:
Warm, playful, patient, reliable and emotionally regulated, with a genuinely low-demand approach. Experience with SEND, autism and/or ADHD is important, and an understanding of PDA would be a big advantage. More than anything, we need someone who understands that connection comes first and is happy to build trust with Kimmi gradually.
We’re looking for someone consistent and ideally long-term. Personality and compatibility are extremely important - this needs to be someone Kimmi genuinely enjoys spending time with.
Additional household support:
I’m looking for someone who can support Kimmi and also help with general household cleaning/ tidying. There are some cleaning hours available now, with scope for this to increase to around 10 hours per week once additional funding is confirmed.
Driver/car:
Ideally someone who drives and has their own car, particularly as the role will involve taking Kimmi to activities and potentially EOTAS provision. However, if you have a full driving licence but don’t have your own car, please still get in touch - I’m happy to insure the right person on my car for use while working with Kimmi.
Must be comfortable with animals as we have two British Shorthair cats.
