About Me

I read a lot in my free time, anything from non-fiction history books to fantasy novels. I also enjoy reading about child development and how what we do affects the children around us. I believe that reading is a skill we should encourage children to develop early on, and I always try to find books to read to children that will educate and entertain them.

I'm also very interested in arts and crafts. I greatly enjoy making things with my hands, and in my job as a childminder, I planned and carried out weekly themed arts and crafts, which was my favourite part of the week! I have a lot of ideas and resources for making activities fun and educational for kids.

Additionally, I believe that teaching kids about different cultures and people is very important, and I carry that with me in my daily life, even with adults. I'm open to talking about different ways of life and views in an age-appropriate way.

My Experience

As a childminder's assistant, I worked alongside a childminder and was responsible for caring for up to 10 children, with 6 at one time between 9 months and 4 years of age. My main responsibility was planning, organising, and initiating educational activities suited to the children's developmental stages and helping prepare them for school. I worked 8.5 hours a day for over a year and a half.

As a babysitter/nanny, I looked after 2 children, aged 1 to 3, from two different families. For one family, I worked 12 hours a day for 2 to 3 days a week, and for the second family, I worked 8 hours a day for 2 to 3 days a week. For both children, I was responsible for their daily care, making breakfast, lunch, and dinner, helping with potty training, and conducting daily age-appropriate educational activities such as number and letter recognition. I also updated the parents/guardians throughout the day about what was happening. I would take the children out to the park and other activities such as toddler groups. When one of the children was enrolled in nursery, I would get the child ready for nursery and take them to and from nursery.

Additionally, I have worked as an administrative/ office assistant in a privet school where I was responsible for the prenatal communication, general office tasks and being the first point of contact as a first aider. I was also on a special team of staff who helped a child with diabetes which involved monitoring their daily blood sugar levels every 3 hours as well as managing high/low blood sugar.
