My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Valeriia, but you can call me Val. I’m a mum, a teacher, a dreamer and the person behind Balance & Bloom, my Ofsted-registered childminding setting in Washingborough.
I’ve followed my heart across countries, languages and dreams, and the people I’ve met along the way have shaped how I see the world. I speak English, Ukrainian, Russian and Polish, and I understand Gujarati and Hindi. I love welcoming the different languages and traditions children bring from home.
Becoming a mum changed how I see childhood. My little boy reminded me how much children notice when we slow down and give them time to explore. I wanted to create a place where children feel safe, listened to and free to be themselves.
At Balance & Bloom, children learn through play. We cover the full EYFS, from stories, sounds and early maths to art, movement and discovering the world around us. Alongside that, we enjoy things close to my heart: music and sounds sessions led by me and my husband (included at no extra cost and children can choose an instrument they want to learn as we have lots to choose from including piano, guitars, singing bowls, drum set and many more), gratitude, gentle breathing, quiet moments of meditation and fun brain games for memory and focus. Children are always free to join in, watch or choose something else.
The five elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space, inspire many of our activities. We might follow the wind, collect leaves, play with water or see where a child’s question takes us. Our days are mostly screen-free(we have no TV at all and only occasionally get our projector out for some planned fun activists/videos) , with plenty of time outdoors. I write children’s books too, so stories have a special place here.
I follow each child’s interests and needs. I’d love Balance & Bloom to feel like a place where your child can simply be a child, and where you feel welcome too.
