About Me
We’re Dan and Emma, a warm and friendly family living in Caxton with our three children, aged 12, 9 and 6. We both work in professional roles and are looking for someone dependable, caring and proactive who can become a trusted part of our family life.
Our children have very different personalities and interests. Our eldest loves gaming, LEGO, football, music and anything that makes him laugh. He is autistic and has ADHD, so he benefits from a calm, patient and flexible approach, particularly around transitions and demands. Experience with neurodivergent children would be very welcome, although warmth, understanding and a willingness to learn are just as important to us. Our nine-year-old enjoys reading, crafts, swimming, dance and musical theatre, while our youngest loves gymnastics, trampolining, imaginative play and all things Disney and pink!
We aim to create a relaxed, respectful home where the children feel understood and have plenty of independence. Life with three children can be lively, so we value clear communication, reliability and someone who can take initiative while working collaboratively with us. We believe in agreeing responsibilities and expectations openly so that everyone feels comfortable and supported.
We’re hoping to find someone who genuinely enjoys getting to know children as individuals and can bring warmth, steadiness and a little fun to the after-school routine.
My Requirements
We are looking for reliable after-school childcare from Monday to Thursday during term time, with the possibility of occasional Fridays and additional hours during the school holidays.
The main responsibilities would include collecting our two younger children from The Vine in Upper Cambourne and bringing them home to Caxton, so a full driving licence and access to a reliable car are essential. Our eldest will usually already be at home, as his education and transport arrangements are managed separately.
We would like the nanny to provide calm, engaging care and help the children through the transition from school to home. This would include:
* Preparing snacks and a simple, healthy evening meal
* Supporting the children with homework or reading when needed
* Unpacking school bags, checking for letters or items that need attention, and preparing bags for the following day
* Putting school uniform and other necessary clothing in the wash
* Helping the children get clothes, equipment and activities ready for the next day
* Keeping the children’s areas reasonably tidy and encouraging them to help
* Taking the children to occasional activities or providing relaxed play and downtime at home
* Keeping us informed about the afternoon and anything arising from school
We would also appreciate help with a small amount of child-related organisation, such as keeping track of school requests or forms, but we would always agree expectations clearly and keep these responsibilities reasonable.
Our eldest is autistic and has ADHD, so we are particularly interested in someone who understands neurodivergence and can offer a calm, patient and flexible approach. Above all, we are looking for someone kind, dependable and organised who can build a trusting relationship with all three children and help make our weekday evenings run more smoothly.
