Registered Childminder with Special Needs Experience Job in Dundee
About Me
Our son has just turned 3 and is undergoing ASD assessment. He's an affectionate, happy, smiley little one who loves being outdoors, numbers, letters and Toy Story. He loves jumping, dancing, music and rough and tumble play. He knows all the words to every nursery rhyme and children's song and loves dancing in the kitchen with Mum and Dad. He's fascinated by ducks — real ones and toy ducks — and enjoys lying watching the clouds. He loves fluffy textures and will happily play under a fluffy blanket for ages. He'll happily play with grass, stones, bark or sand for extended periods. His expressive language is delayed, but he communicates most of his needs — toilet, washing hands/face, needing help, or getting something opened. He needs support with toileting (buttons, zips, getting on and off the toilet) and has sensory and food aversions. He responds really well to firm, consistent boundaries and clear consequences. He plays appropriately alongside other children and shares space well.
My Requirements
Pickup from Grange nursery at 2:50pm, Tuesday to Thursday, until between 4:30pm and 4:45pm. We're looking for someone who understands additional support needs and can follow through consistently with boundaries. His preferred strategies are: one warning, then if needed, holding an adult's hand, going in the buggy, or having a toy removed. He's great fun and just needs someone who gets his needs and is willing to work with him.
