About Me
We’re a family of three-to-be, with our first baby boy due in January 2027. My husband and I are beginning to look for childcare for when I return to work, and we’re particularly interested in finding a childminder.
I was looked after by a childminder myself from six months old until I was 11, so I really understand the value of having a warm, familiar, home-from-home environment while parents are at work. It’s something we’d love for our own child too.
We’re looking for someone nurturing and caring, who will get to know our child as an individual and provide a happy, secure environment with plenty of opportunities for play, learning and exploring. Building a trusting relationship with our childminder and feeling like they are a real extension of our family is really important to us.
My Requirements
We’re hoping to start childcare for our baby boy from January 2028, initially phasing him into childcare gradually and building up his days and hours as he becomes settled.
My husband works full time and the longer-term plan is for me to return to full-time work from March 2028, so we would ideally be looking for a childminder who could accommodate a full-time arrangement from around then. Once back at work, I would anticipate drop-off being around 8am and pick-up being around 5:30pm, Monday–Friday.
We are eligible for the Government-funded childcare hours, so we would ideally be looking for a childminder who accepts these.
Looking further ahead, although it is still very early to be considering nursery and school, our closest options are Parsonage Farm Nursery and Infant School and Cove Infant School. It would be great to find a childminder who could potentially continue caring for him once he starts school, including school pick-ups and, where possible, morning drop-offs.
