About Me
Hi! I’m Ummay, a friendly, caring and responsible person who genuinely enjoys spending time with children.
I grew up helping to care for my two younger brothers, so looking after younger children has always been a natural part of my life. I also regularly babysit my nieces and nephews, which has given me experience caring for children of different ages and personalities.
I love playing with children and keeping them engaged through games, creative activities, reading and other fun, age-appropriate activities. I especially like encouraging children to interact, play and use their imagination rather than spending all of their time on digital devices.
I also have experience tutoring and mentoring young people, so I’m patient, approachable and more than happy to help with homework, reading or schoolwork if needed.
I understand how important it is for parents to feel completely comfortable with the person looking after their children. I’m reliable, attentive and respectful of each family’s routines, rules and preferences, and my priority is always to make sure children feel safe, comfortable and happy while in my care.
My Experience
I have several years of informal childcare experience through caring for younger family members. Growing up, I regularly helped look after my two younger brothers, which involved supervising them, keeping them entertained, helping with routines and making sure they were safe and comfortable.
I also regularly babysit my nieces and nephews and have experience caring for children of different ages. I enjoy planning activities, playing games, reading, doing creative activities and encouraging children to stay engaged without relying too heavily on phones, tablets or other digital devices.
Alongside this, I have experience tutoring GCSE students and mentoring young people. This has strengthened my patience, communication skills and ability to adapt to different personalities and needs. I am also confident helping children with homework, reading and school-related activities.
My Qualifications
I hold a current DBS check and have experience working with and caring for children and young people.
I also hold an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Scots Law with English Law from the University of Aberdeen and I am currently completing further professional legal studies.
Alongside this, I have experience tutoring GCSE students and mentoring young people, which has developed my patience, communication skills and ability to support children with their learning and development. I am also confident helping with homework, reading and schoolwork.
My Availability
I am very flexible as I am a post graduate university student with only 3 classes a week.
