My Requirements

We are looking for a warm, capable and genuinely organised Nanny to join our busy family in Cuffley.

The role

Before the baby arrives, the role would mainly focus on supporting mum and helping with the children, giving the right person the opportunity to get to know our family and the way our household works.

Once the baby arrives, the role will develop to include more newborn and maternal support, alongside taking care of the older children’s needs.

We would particularly value someone with maternity nurse, newborn or postnatal experience who is confident supporting a mother and baby in the early weeks. This might include:

* Helping with the practical demands of having a newborn at home
* Supporting with the baby’s routine, feeding and settling
* Holding and caring for the baby while Mum rests, showers or spends time with the older children
* Helping with sterilising bottles and keeping baby equipment organised
* Baby laundry and keeping the nursery organised
* Preparing simple meals and drinks for Mum and the family
* Helping ensure Mum has time to eat, rest and have a break during the day
* Being a calm and reassuring presence during the early weeks
* Helping with the older children so Mum can focus on the baby when needed
* Supporting the family as we settle into life with three children

The role isn’t intended to replace a full-time maternity nurse, but we would love someone who is genuinely confident around newborns and understands how much practical support a new mother can need.

Household & family responsibilities

Alongside newborn support, typical duties would include:

* Keeping bedrooms and children’s belongings organised
* General household tidying and organisation
* Helping with school bags, uniforms and children’s belongings
* Preparing simple family meals and children’s meals
* Unpacking groceries and helping keep the kitchen organised
* Helping with school runs and children’s activities
* Looking after the older children when needed
* Helping keep the household running smoothly day-to-day
* Supporting with homework, reading and music practise

We are looking for someone who spots what needs doing without always being asked and takes pride in their work.

Hours & flexibility

Initially, we are looking for roughly 22 hours per week, set out as:

Monday 8am - 1pm
Tuesday 2pm - 8pm
Wednesday 8am - 1pm
Thursday 2pm - 8pm

There is flexibility with these days and times for the right person.

We would ideally like someone to start around December or early January, allowing a few weeks to settle into the household and get to know the children before the baby arrives.

There may be scope for the hours and responsibilities to increase slightly around the time the baby arrives and as our needs develop.

About you

The most important thing is that you are kind, reliable, trustworthy and proactive.

Ideally, you will have previous experience working for a family as a maternity nurse, newborn nanny, family assistant, nanny-housekeeper or similar.

You should be:

* Warm and caring with children
* Comfortable around a newborn
* Ideally experienced in supporting a new mother during the postnatal period
* Organised and practical
* Happy working independently
* Naturally tidy and conscientious
* Flexible and willing to help with whatever the day requires
* Reliable and discreet
* Comfortable becoming a trusted part of a family household

A driving licence would be very useful for school runs and children’s activities.

We are looking for someone who wants a long-term position and would genuinely enjoy becoming part of our family.
