Pete
Registered Childminder Job in High Wycombe
About Me
I am Pete, and I live with my wife Catherine and 6-year old son Charlie in Buckinghamshire - near High Wycombe. From Sep 26, Charlie was unable to access mainstream school (he is diagnosed with Autism with a PDA profile) following Autistic burnout, and we are in the process of developing an interim Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) package for him. During this phase where he is mostly at home with his mum (and dad in the evenings and weekends) we are looking for support caring for Charlie, but also giving him another trusted adult to build a fun relationship with.
My Requirements
We're looking for a fun, energetic, patient and reliable person to spend time with our son, Charlie, as part of his growing EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School) programme.
This is much more than a childcare role. We're looking for someone who can become another trusted adult in Charlie's life, build a genuine relationship with him, share his interests, and support him to access enjoyable activities in the community while developing confidence, independence and life experiences.
Charlie is a bright, funny and creative young person who loves LEGO, Minecraft, Star Wars, video games, trampolining, trips to the park and cinema, and anything involving building, creating and having fun. He thrives with calm, understanding people who are happy to go at his pace and follow his interests.
The role will involve spending regular one-to-one time with Charlie, joining in with activities he enjoys, supporting outings, and helping him engage with the wider world as part of his personalised EOTAS package.
We're looking for someone who is:
Fun, warm and engaging
Kind, patient and reliable
Happy to be active and join in
Comfortable with video games, LEGO and imaginative play
Able to build trust and a genuine connection
Willing to learn about and support a neurodivergent child
Is able to engage with him in physical activities - such as park visits, trampolining etc
Experience is welcome but not essential. We're much more interested in finding the right person with the right personality.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a young person's life whilst providing valuable support and respite for a loving family.
