Giorgia
Private Tutor in London (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
About Me
I’m a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic tutor and babysitter based in London, with a genuine passion for working with children and young people. I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual and creating a positive, supportive environment where they feel comfortable, confident and encouraged to learn.
Alongside tutoring and childcare, I work as a Clinical Trial Manager at a private neurology clinic, where I coordinate clinical research studies involving patients with neurological conditions, including dementia. My role requires a high level of responsibility, organisation and communication, as well as empathy and professionalism when working with patients and their families.
I have a background in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience and have recently completed an MSc in Dementia: From Neuroscience to Clinical Practice at UCL. My studies and professional experience have given me a broad understanding of psychology, neuroscience, development, learning and behaviour, while also fostering my strong interest in education and helping others reach their potential.
I’m a versatile and curious person with a wide range of interests, and I enjoy bringing this into my work with children. Whether I’m helping with schoolwork, making a difficult subject easier to understand, practising Italian, encouraging a child’s interests or organising activities and games, I always try to make the experience engaging and enjoyable.
I also strongly believe that children benefit from having opportunities to learn and have fun away from screens. Where appropriate, I like to encourage face-to-face interaction, conversation, imaginative play, creative activities, reading, outdoor time and physical activities, while always taking into account each child’s interests and personality. I believe these experiences are important for developing confidence, communication, independence and social skills.
I’m patient, approachable and conscientious, and I understand how important it is for parents to have someone they can trust. My aim is to provide not only reliable childcare and academic support, but also a warm and proactive presence that children feel comfortable around.
My Experience
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience and have worked with children, adolescents and university students across a wide range of ages and abilities. I can support students in English, English Literature, Biology, Psychology, General Science and Italian, adapting my approach to suit each student’s individual learning style, needs and goals.
Alongside private tutoring, I have experience working as a Teaching Assistant during my undergraduate degree and have taught an elective course at UCL. These experiences have developed my ability to explain complex concepts clearly, plan engaging learning activities and build students’ confidence and independence.
I also have experience supporting children and adolescents with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. My background in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience means I have a strong understanding of neurodevelopment, learning, behaviour and the clinical and psychological factors that can influence how a child learns and communicates. I therefore take a patient, flexible and individualised approach, rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way.
As a babysitter, I provide safe, caring and engaging childcare and am happy to help with homework, reading, creative activities, games, meals and evening routines. I am attentive to children’s individual personalities, interests and routines and aim to create an environment where they feel comfortable, supported and encouraged.
I am particularly passionate about helping children and young people develop confidence in their abilities, whether that means supporting them with a challenging school subject, preparing for exams, improving their English or simply providing a positive and stimulating environment after school.
My Qualifications
I hold a First Class Honours BSc in Cognitive Neuroscience with Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London (82/100), and have recently completed an MSc in Dementia: From Neuroscience to Clinical Practice at UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, with a predicted Distinction. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in Psychology, Biology, Neuroscience, research methods and human development.
I also completed an Italian Diploma di Maturità from Liceo Scientifico Galileo Galilei, achieving 90/100, with a strong scientific curriculum. I am a native Italian speaker and fluent in English, and can therefore offer Italian language tutoring alongside academic subjects.
In addition to my academic qualifications, I have completed training in Good Clinical Practice, Human Tissue legislation, GDPR and clinical procedures including phlebotomy and ECG, reflecting my wider professional experience and commitment to responsibility, safeguarding and professional standards.
