My Summary
About Me
Hello, my name is Becca, and I am passionate about providing loving, attentive and reliable childcare. I understand how important it is for parents to feel confident and reassured that their little ones are in safe and caring hands.
I offer a range of childcare services, including emergency childcare, interim care, occasional weekend help, overnight stays and school drop-offs. Whether you need support at short notice, a night nanny to help establish a gentle bedtime routine, or regular weekend care to fit around your schedule, I am happy to help.
I have extensive experience caring for children of all ages, from newborns through to school-aged children, including children with special educational needs (SEN). I have also worked as a swim teacher for many years, giving me extensive experience working with children of different ages, personalities and abilities.
Alongside my childcare experience, I have 7 years’ experience working as an NHS paramedic. This has given me excellent skills in staying calm under pressure, responding to emergencies, problem-solving and providing a high standard of care. I am confident dealing with unexpected situations while always putting a child’s safety and wellbeing first.
My approach to childcare is warm, patient, nurturing and adaptable, ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported. I take the time to understand each child’s individual personality, needs and routines, creating a fun and comfortable environment where they can thrive.
Trust and meaningful relationships are at the heart of my care. I am kind, empathetic, dependable and responsible, giving parents peace of mind knowing their children are being cared for by someone they can trust.
My Experience
With a background as an NHS paramedic, swim teacher, mother and nanny, I bring a unique combination of professional experience, practical skills and genuine understanding of children and families.
My 7 years’ experience as an NHS paramedic has taught me how to remain calm and reassuring in stressful or unexpected situations. I am confident making decisions under pressure, responding appropriately to emergencies and putting safety first. It has also developed my communication, teamwork, organisation and problem-solving skills, all of which are incredibly valuable when caring for children.
As a swim teacher, I have many years’ experience working with children of different ages, abilities and personalities. I have developed a patient and adaptable approach to teaching, learning how to build trust with children, communicate at their level and create an environment where they feel confident, supported and safe. My experience teaching children with additional needs has also taught me the importance of adapting my approach to each individual child.
Being a mother myself has given me a personal understanding of the realities of caring for a young child. I understand the importance of routines, patience, flexibility and creating a safe and nurturing environment, while also appreciating how important it is for parents to feel comfortable and reassured when leaving their child in someone else’s care.
I also have previous experience working as a nanny, which has given me hands-on experience caring for children within their own homes and supporting families with their individual routines and needs. I understand that every family is different and that good childcare is about fitting into a child’s established routine while providing a warm, engaging and dependable presence.
Together, these experiences have given me a calm, caring and responsible approach to childcare. I am confident managing everyday routines as well as unexpected situations, and I pride myself on being reliable, attentive and adaptable. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy working with children and want them to feel safe, happy, listened to and cared for while they are with me.
My Qualifications
Qualifications & Professional Experience
I am a professionally registered NHS Paramedic with 7 years of experience, bringing a wealth of transferable skills that are particularly valuable when working with babies, toddlers and children. My career has taught me to remain calm and reassuring in unexpected situations, assess risk, respond appropriately to changing circumstances and always put safety and wellbeing first. I regularly complete core skills refreshers and professional training, ensuring my knowledge and practice remain current.
I hold a Level 3 Safeguarding Adults and Children qualification, giving me a strong understanding of keeping children safe, recognising potential safeguarding concerns and knowing how to respond appropriately. This complements my experience of working closely with children and families and allows parents to feel confident that their child is in safe and knowledgeable hands.
I also hold a current Enhanced DBS, providing reassurance that I am appropriately vetted and committed to creating a safe, trusted and professional environment for children.
I have a full UK driving licence, alongside additional professional driving courses completed through my paramedic career. I am therefore confident and responsible when driving and would be comfortable transporting children to nursery, school, activities, playgroups and days out where required.
My GCSEs were achieved to a high standard, providing me with a strong academic foundation and excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills. These skills are valuable when supporting children’s learning, development and day-to-day routines.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science, which has given me extensive knowledge of health, child and adult wellbeing, first aid, safeguarding, risk assessment and emergency response. It has also developed my ability to communicate sensitively with children and families and adapt my approach to individual needs.
Alongside my professional qualifications, my experience as a mother, nanny and swim teacher has given me a genuine understanding of children’s individual personalities, routines and developmental needs. I understand the importance of creating a warm and nurturing environment where children feel secure, supported and encouraged to learn through play and everyday experiences.
Together, my professional healthcare background and hands-on childcare experience allow me to offer parents a unique combination of safety, knowledge, nurturing care and practical experience.
