About Me

Hi, my name is Kasey and I am a mum of four children. I have two older children and three-year-old twin girls, so life in our house is always busy, fun and full of activity! I am currently in the process of becoming a registered childminder and I am really excited to be opening my home-based setting in January.

I live in Chertsey, not far from St Peter’s Hospital, which is somewhere I know very well as I have worked there for eight and a half years. I spent most of my NHS career working in operating theatres, as well as spending time working on the labour ward. Through my work, I gained experience caring for premature babies, sick children and people of all ages. I have training and experience in both basic and enhanced life-saving skills and have also completed a full Ofsted-recognised paediatric first aid course.

Becoming a childminder feels like a natural next step for me as I absolutely love being around children and giving them opportunities to experience new things. I am a big believer that children learn through play, exploring and getting out into the world around them.

With my own twin girls, we are rarely sitting at home! We go out every day and regularly visit places such as Windsor Castle, RHS Garden Wisley, Kew Gardens and Hampton Court Palace. We go swimming, visit parks and explore lots of different educational and interesting places. I plan to bring this same approach into my childminding setting, with plenty of days out, outdoor adventures and opportunities for children to learn through real-life experiences.

Most importantly, I want to create a safe, happy and nurturing home-from-home environment where children feel comfortable, cared for and excited to come each day. I want parents to feel confident that while their children are with me, they are not only being well looked after, but are having fun, learning, exploring and making some lovely childhood memories along the way.

My Experience

I have a wide range of both personal and professional experience caring for children. I am a mum of four children, aged 12, 10 and three-year-old twin girls, who will be starting school next September. Being a mum has given me a huge amount of hands-on experience across different ages and stages of childhood, from newborn babies through to older children.

I also have personal experience of caring for extremely premature babies, as my twins were born at just 27 weeks. This gave me an understanding of some of the additional needs and challenges that can come with premature babies, as well as the importance of patience, close observation and responding to each child's individual needs.

Before becoming a childminder, I have worked for the NHS as a theatre practitioner. During this time, I gained experience around babies and children who were unwell, as well as developing skills in areas such as infection prevention, health and safety and responding calmly in emergency situations.

I am passionate about continuing to develop my knowledge and skills so that I can provide the best possible care for the children in my setting. I have completed a full paediatric first aid course as well as additional training in areas including food safety, allergies and other subjects relevant to working as a childminder. I am also currently completing my Level 3 Diploma in Home-Based Childcare and intend to continue undertaking further training throughout my childminding career.

I also have experience with children with autism and ADHD and understand how important it is to recognise that every child is different. I believe in adapting my approach to suit each child's individual personality, needs, interests and stage of development, rather than expecting every child to learn or behave in the same way.

I hold a full driving licence and my vehicle is insured for business use for my childminding setting. This means I will be able to take the children out regularly and give them opportunities to experience different environments, activities and educational days out.

Overall, I feel that my experience as a mum, my NHS background, my training and my continued professional development have given me a strong foundation for becoming a childminder. I want to use that experience to provide children with a safe, caring and nurturing environment where they feel secure, have fun and are given plenty of opportunities to learn and develop.
