Hi, I'm Kima and I run Root & Bloom, a home nursery in a beautiful Victorian house for children ages 0-3 years old. We are bringing the best of a countryside childhood to the heart of London.
I provide a warm, Montessori and Forest School home nursery where nature, music and purposeful play help little minds flourish. I am a singer and multi-instrumentalist and I weave live musical workshops, sensory activities, art and creative play into our days.
*NATURE*
We are based in Stratford, seconds walk from a stunning 70-acre park for Forest School and outdoor discovery in every season. Our Forest School sessions help our children learn about seasons, plants and birds and build confidence through hands-on play in nature.
We offer a nurturing home-from-home in a beautiful Victorian house with a sizeable garden where we grow our own vegetables and herbs, including tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, cabbage and basil. Our children will sow seeds, care for growing plants, harvest what they’ve grown and begin to understand the life cycle of food.
We also have bird houses, bird feeders and butterfly habitats so our little ones can enjoy the wonder of nature.
*MONTESSORI*
Our care is inspired by Montessori practices which help foster independence in our little ones. This helps our children build a sense of confidence and trust in their own ability. We also teach baby sign language in order to help babies and toddlers express their needs.
*MUSIC AND SENSORY*
We are passionate about music and the transformative impact it can have. Live piano music and fun sing-alongs make rhythm, language and joyful self-expression a natural part of our days together.
Our children are introduced to a range of instruments, sounds and musical traditions, with plenty of freedom to listen, join in and experiment. Through music we nurture language, memory and fine motor skills.
*CURRICULUM*
We are very intentional with our curriculum at Root & Bloom, helping our children (blooms) develop through creative play.
Our curriculum has the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at its heart and our activities are intentional to develop children's communication and language skills, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy mathematics, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design.
Our activities include outdoor Forest School exploration, music workshops, daily reading and story-times, painting and crafts, sensory workshops, baking sugar-free treats, watering and harvesting vegetables and playing in the garden. We attend local toddler groups during the week and we also organise bigger trips to the farm, museum and library.
An essential skill that children need throughout their education is good memory and recall ability. Music is a fun and fantastic mechanism to build great memory and recall skills through learning lyrics, melodies and patterns.
*EXTRAS*
For added safety, "nanny" cameras operate within our setting, with recorded footage retained for 30 days. Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Root & Bloom. We strictly adhere to all GDPR, data protection and safeguarding requirements. We also have a LifeVac onsite to ensure the safety of all of the children in our care. Additionally, all of our childminding staff are first aid trained.
We serve three freshly prepared meals on site each day. Our food contains no added salt or sugar and no preservatives or additives. We will provide you with our weekly menu listing all ingredients and allergens. If your child does not require meals during the day, you can opt out and save £12 per day on food costs.
We are professional members of Childminding UK and we are awaiting Ofsted registration. We will be open by December 2026.

My Experience
I created Root & Bloom to give children a place where they can have a childhood spent in nature, around music and engaging with other sensory experiences. The years before school age are important, and I wanted to create an environment that feels like an extension of home.
My co-childminder and I have extensive experience working with children, both in the UK and abroad. I hold a Level 3 Childcare Qualification and I have worked with children as a nanny, leading teams at various children's summer camps and as an au pair. My co-childminder has worked at various nurseries as a qualified practitioner.
My Qualifications
I hold a Level 3 Childcare Qualification, I am fully first aid trained (we also have a LifeVac at Root & Bloom for added safety) and I have completed safeguarding and food hygiene training. I hold an enhanced DBS check.
I run Root & Bloom from my home in Stratford alongside a brilliant co-childminder who is a Qualified Early Years Teacher, she is also first aid trained and holds an enhanced DBS check.
My Fees
- Childminding from £11.00 per hour
We accept Government funded hours.
For privately funded days, our fees are:
£11 per hour for ages 0-2
£11.50 per hour for ages 2-3
