Hi, I’m Alex, a friendly and patient teacher specialising in supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
I offer personalised tutoring in English, maths and essential learning skills, with a focus on building confidence, independence and enjoyment. Whether your child needs support with early reading, writing, number skills or re-engaging with learning, I adapt sessions to their individual needs, interests and pace.
My approach is calm, encouraging and relationship-focused. I use practical activities, visual resources and clear routines to make learning accessible and engaging. I understand that traditional teaching approaches do not suit every child, and I work closely with families to identify meaningful goals and celebrate progress.
My Experience
I have over eight years’ experience in education, working across primary, secondary and post-16 settings. My career has progressed from teaching assistant and higher-level teaching assistant to class teacher within specialist education.
I have extensive experience supporting learners with autism, moderate and severe learning difficulties, communication differences, sensory needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs. I have also supported children experiencing anxiety around school and barriers to engaging with education.
In my teaching roles, I plan and deliver personalised learning, adapt English and maths activities to different starting points, and use ongoing assessment to identify next steps. I am experienced in working towards EHCP outcomes and collaborating with families, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and other professionals.
I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in primary education, a First-Class BA (Hons) in Education Studies, a Foundation Degree in Education Studies, and Level 2 and Level 3 teaching assistant qualifications. My training includes Makaton, and I have experience using visual supports and alternative communication methods.
I have also worked as a Senior SEND Officer within a local authority, giving me a valuable understanding of the SEND assessment process and the support families may need when navigating education.

My Fees
- Tutoring from £30.00 per hour
My fees depend on the length of the session, your child’s individual needs and whether tuition is online or in person. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and receive a personalised quote.
Fees are agreed in advance and include session planning and preparation of learning resources.
