Ashleigh
Nanny in Ramsgate
My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Ashleigh! I’m a friendly, caring and reliable person with many years of experience working with children and young people, including those with additional and complex needs.
I have worked within a specialist school for around eight years, starting in a hands-on educational support role before progressing into Positive Behaviour Support and, more recently, a management role overseeing a multidisciplinary team. Throughout my career, supporting children and young people to feel safe, understood and able to thrive has always been incredibly important to me.
My experience has given me a calm, patient and understanding approach, and I recognise that every child is an individual. I’m confident adapting my approach to different personalities, communication styles and needs, while providing clear boundaries and a safe, positive environment.
Outside of my professional experience, I’m approachable, organised and dependable. I understand how important it is for parents to feel completely comfortable with the person looking after their child, so good communication and building trust with families are really important to me.
My Experience
I have around eight years of experience working within a specialist school supporting children and young people with a range of additional and complex needs.
I began in a hands-on role as an Educational Support Worker/Senior Learning Support Assistant, giving me direct experience of supporting young people in their day-to-day education and care. I later progressed into Positive Behaviour Support, where I worked closely with staff and young people to understand individual behaviours, identify patterns and help ensure the right strategies and support were in place.
I have since progressed into a senior management role, working alongside the Head of School and leading a multidisciplinary team that includes Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Positive Behaviour Support. I am also a trained PROACT-SCIPr-UK Instructor and have delivered training to staff in supporting and preventing behaviours of concern using a trauma-informed approach.
My experience has taught me the importance of patience, consistency and taking the time to understand each child as an individual. I am comfortable supporting children with different communication styles, behaviours and additional needs, and I always aim to provide a safe, positive and nurturing environment.
I also hold a current First Aid at Work qualification.
My Qualifications
I hold a Level 4 BTEC Certificate in Practice Leadership of Positive Behaviour Support and I am a qualified PROACT-SCIPr-UK Instructor, which has given me extensive knowledge of positive, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches to supporting children and young people.
I also hold a current First Aid at Work qualification through St John Ambulance and a Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading.
Alongside my formal qualifications, I have completed extensive professional training throughout my career within a specialist school environment, particularly around supporting children and young people with additional and complex needs.
