Registered Childminder Job in Reading
About Me
I am a single father living in central Reading with my 9-year-old son, Edward. We are a small, friendly household and live approximately 10 minutes’ walk from Reading town centre, with excellent access to shops, restaurants and public transport.
I work full-time, mainly from home, and I am looking for a kind, reliable and responsible person to become part of our regular family routine.
Edward is an active, curious and affectionate boy who loves basketball, manga/anime, football, spending time with friends and learning Spanish. He attends mainstream school and has a busy but structured weekly routine.
We have a spare private bedroom available, so a live-in arrangement is our preferred option. Meals and normal household utilities would be included, while respecting the nanny’s privacy and independence.
My Requirements
I am looking primarily for a live-in, part-time after-school nanny/au pair to help with Edward’s weekday routine.
The main duties are collecting Edward from school at 3:15pm Monday to Friday, caring for him after school, preparing a simple snack or meal if needed, and taking him to his regular activities using my car.
Typical weekly routine:
Monday: school collection and care until approximately 5:00pm.
Tuesday: school collection, then basketball training 5:30–6:30pm and return home afterwards.
Wednesday: school collection, Spanish class 4:00–5:30pm and return home afterwards.
Thursday: school collection, then basketball training 5:30–6:30pm and return home afterwards.
Friday: school collection and care until approximately 5:00pm.
The normal requirement is approximately 16–18 hours per week.
I work mainly from home, so I will normally be nearby if support is needed. There may occasionally be additional paid hours, for example if Edward is unwell and unable to attend school.
A full driving licence and confidence driving in the UK are essential. My automatic car will be provided for school collections and Edward’s activities.
Edward is autistic and benefits from a calm, patient approach, clear communication and predictable routines. Previous experience with autistic or neurodivergent children would be welcome, although the right attitude, patience and willingness to learn are more important.
For a live-in candidate, a private bedroom, meals and normal household utilities are included.
