My Summary
About Me
Welcome to Helen’s Ivy House Childminding
Hello parents! My name is Helen, and I’m a registered Ofsted childminder and proud mum to two beautiful daughters. My childcare journey began in 2008, when I started childminding alongside my sister. For over 10 years, we cared for children from as young as three months through to 14 years old, supporting them through important milestones as they grew and developed. Although we had to close during the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m delighted to be back, bringing my experience and passion for childcare to a new chapter at Helen’s Ivy House.
At Ivy House, we believe learning goes far beyond the classroom. We provide a safe, nurturing, home-from-home environment where children feel loved, valued and confident to be themselves. From painting, creative crafts and imaginative play to outdoor adventures in our beautiful garden, we offer engaging activities that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. We also love taking the children on scheduled outings, giving them opportunities to explore the world, discover new interests and make wonderful memories.
Our aim is to help every child feel happy, secure and excited to learn, while developing the confidence, kindness and independence they need to thrive. As a mum myself, I understand how important it is to find childcare you can trust, which is why we value strong relationships with families and keeping parents involved in their child’s journey. At Helen’s Ivy House, every child is celebrated for who they are, and we want every little one to have the opportunity to grow, learn and flourish.
My Experience
With over 14 years of childminding experience, I have had the pleasure of caring for children from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and abilities. This experience has taught me how important it is to understand each child’s individual needs and create a nurturing environment where they feel confident, included and supported to reach their full potential.
At Helen’s Ivy House, we are fortunate to be a trilingual household, speaking English, German and Tigrinya. Over the years, we have helped several families introduce German to their children, with wonderful results. We love creating opportunities for children to explore a new language naturally through everyday conversations, play and activities. We understand how valuable language learning can be for a child’s development, and we are passionate about helping children build confidence, develop communication skills and appreciate different cultures from an early age.
