About Me
A private family is seeking a teacher, not a nanny for their daughter, aged under five: an educator who will support her over the long term and lay the foundations of language, habits and a love of learning. Candidates of any nationality are welcome.
My Requirements
1. Teaching and early learning
Plan a weekly programme suited to the child’s stage of development: reading, English language, early numeracy and cognition, art, music, sensory and hands-on exploration
Teach through play and everyday life rather than rote instruction
Build a love of reading, concentration, expressive language and independent learning, adjusting content to the child’s interests and feedback
2. Habits and character
Establish stable daily routines and rules, including mealtimes, tidying and self-care
Handle tears, emotion and defiance calmly and firmly, and help the child recognise and regulate emotion
Encourage independence, manners, self-discipline and age-appropriate social skills
3. Planning and communication with the family
Plan after-school and weekend learning, physical activity, hobbies and outdoor exploration; accompany the child to classes or on family outings when required
Research and select suitable courses and activity resources
Liaise with nursery staff, with the parents’ consent
Record the child’s learning, behaviour and emotional development and provide regular written feedback to the parents
4. Professional conduct and safeguarding
Place the child’s safety and wellbeing first at all times
Respect the family’s privacy, keep clear professional boundaries and communicate openly with the parents
Comply with safeguarding, background-check and reference requirements
