About Me
Hi! My name is Maria, I’m 19 years old and I’m currently studying Law at the University of Sussex.
I’ve always really enjoyed spending time with children and have lots of experience looking after them. I’m the eldest of six siblings, with five younger brothers. My oldest younger brother is 16 and my youngest is just 2 years old, so I’m very used to being around children of different ages. I also regularly pick up my youngest brother from nursery, so if a school or nursery is within walking distance, I’d be very happy to help with school or nursery pick-ups.
I’m happy to prepare meals and snacks for children, including simple favourites such as pasta, pizza, sandwiches and chicken wings. I also really enjoy cooking and have learnt lots from my mum, who is an amazing cook. I’m comfortable making a wide variety of curries as well as dishes such as tandoori chicken, tandoori prawns and other homemade meals. I’m happy to adapt what I make depending on what children like and any dietary requirements.
I love keeping children entertained and getting involved in activities with them, whether that’s arts and crafts, playing games, reading, helping with homework or simply spending time together. I’m also happy to help with tidying up after activities and making sure everything is left clean and organised.
Outside of university, I enjoy doing yoga, fashion and shopping, and I also sell clothes online through Vinted. I’m a big animal lover and have a cat called Buttons who I absolutely adore!
People who know me would describe me as confident, bubbly, outgoing and friendly. I’m also patient and responsible, and I really enjoy meeting new people and spending time with children. I have quite a flexible university schedule, so babysitting is a great way for me to use my free time doing something I genuinely enjoy.

My Experience
I’ve worked professionally in both a nursery and a primary school, which has given me experience with children of different ages. At the nursery, I enjoyed doing activities such as colouring, playing with toys and reading stories, as well as helping to tidy up and keep everything clean. In the primary school, I worked with children aged 4–10 and helped them with their homework. I also prepared sandwiches while following food hygiene standards.
My Qualifications
Although I don’t hold a formal childcare qualification, I have several years of practical experience working with children in both a nursery and a primary school. I also hold a basic first aid qualification and have extensive babysitting experience. I’m confident caring for children and understand the importance of creating a safe, caring and positive environment for them.
My Availability
I’m available most evenings throughout the week, as well as at weekends depending on my schedule.I have university lectures during the day on certain days, but I’m generally flexible and happy to work around families’ needs where possible.Friday evenings are usually less convenient, but I can sometimes make myself available with advance notice. I’m also happy to discuss regular weekly bookings.
