Part Time Nanny with Special Needs Experience Job in Henley-on-Thames
About Me
My son Ryan is 13 years old — he's a happy, loving child with additional needs including autism and ADHD. He loves his Nintendo and iPad, enjoys the comfort of home, and is very social — he loves animals, older people and children. He can be eager with new people, and when anxious he benefits from distraction and support to refocus. I'm looking for a Part Time Nanny, After School Nanny or Babysitter with experience supporting young people with additional needs.
My Requirements
Ryan requires close support and supervision at all times — he finds it very difficult to be left alone due to poor impulse control and severe anxiety. He cannot go out into the community unsupervised due to lack of awareness and insight into his own safety.
He requires prompting and support with personal care tasks, dressing, and medication administration (I currently place tablets in his mouth and he drinks water to swallow). He is unable to sleep in his own bedroom and needs support at bedtime.
He can be overly familiar with people, particularly older people, small children and dogs — he wants to play but his size and friendliness can be intimidating. He doesn't have other friends outside of school, so carers should be prepared for him to want to engage with them socially.
I'm self-employed and flexible with scheduling. I need after-school care 2-3 times a week (days vary week to week), and babysitting assistance 2 nights a week, typically 6pm-11pm. Weekend cover would occasionally be helpful too.
