About Me
Hello, I’m Jemma, the person behind Little Explorers Childcare in Carshalton. I’m a mum of two and am preparing to welcome families from January 2027, subject to completion of the remaining registration arrangements.
My aim is to provide a warm, welcoming home where children feel safe, valued and comfortable being themselves. Children will have opportunities to explore, play, get creative and develop their independence through activities tailored to their interests and stage of development.
I plan to offer term-time childcare for babies and young children, alongside breakfast and after-school care for primary-aged children. School collections will be from one local school, chosen according to demand.
I recently passed my Ofsted registration visit and am awaiting completion of Sutton Council’s process to offer funded childcare places.
My Experience
I work as a SEN Teaching Assistant at a local specialist School and also support children and young people in an after-school SEN provision. These roles have given me experience of adapting activities, supporting different communication needs and helping children feel included and understood.
I have completed my Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, introductory EYFS training and Paediatric First Aid training. I also hold an enhanced DBS check.
Alongside my school work, I run Kids Nerf Gun Wars, organising parties and activities for children aged six and above. As a mum of two, I also understand how important it is for parents to find someone they feel comfortable trusting with their children.
My Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification — January 2023 to 12 May 2025.
• Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools — Sutton College, September 2020 to July 2022.
• NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business Administration — Epsom distance learning, August 2019 to July 2020.
Additional training:
• Introductory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) training.
• Paediatric First Aid.
• Health and Safety: Moving and Handling.
• Dysphagia — Speech and Language Therapy (SALT).
• Epilepsy Awareness.
• Asthma Awareness.
• Anaphylaxis Awareness.
• Education Occupational Therapy and SALT: Universal Provision and Holistic Approaches.
• Health, Safety, Leisure, Play and Emotional Wellbeing in the Playground.
I also hold an enhanced DBS check.
My Availability
Planned opening: January 2027, during school term time.
Monday to Thursday:
Breakfast care from 7:30am.
Daytime childcare from 8am to 3pm.
After-school care until 6pm.
School collections will be offered from one local primary school, depending on demand. Please contact me with your child’s age, school and required days to discuss a potential place.
Funded places will be subject to completion of my registration with Sutton Council.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £14.50 per hour
- Childminding from £9.50 per hour
Daytime childcare: £9.50 per hour.
Breakfast care: £5 per session.
After-school care: £15 per session, including a snack, with collection by 6pm.
Term-time care, with a planned opening in January 2027.
I plan to offer funded childcare places once my registration with Sutton Council is complete. Please contact me to discuss availability and your childcare requirements.
